CARE INSTRUCTIONS:

• ☀️ Light: Bright but diffused light. Here lies the main secret to this plant’s flowering: for Aeschynanthus to bloom generously and for a long time, it vitally needs a large amount of light. However, strictly protect it from direct, scorching midday sun rays, which will instantly burn its beautiful, fleshy leaves and turn them yellow or reddish-brown. An east or west-facing windowsill is an absolutely excellent choice.

• 💧 Watering: Regular and moderate. As an epiphyte, its leaves can store some water. Allow the top layer of soil to dry out slightly between waterings! It absolutely cannot tolerate root soaking in standing water in the saucer, which will quickly cause root rot and massive leaf drop. In winter months (dormant period), reduce watering significantly.

• 🌡️ Temperature/Humidity: Thrives well at standard room temperature. Being a tropical forest inhabitant, it literally adores high air humidity! A humidifier nearby or regular misting with a fine spray will help maintain flawless leaf appearance. In winter, be sure to protect it from cold drafts!

• 🐾 Pets: Friendly. This exotic and flowering plant is completely non-toxic and absolutely safe in your home with curious cats and dogs.

🏠 BEST LOCATION:

• High shelf or hanging pot (macramé) (an absolutely ideal spot that allows the long stems and flowers to elegantly hang down).

• Bright bathroom with a window (an absolute paradise due to the necessary air humidity for the plant).

⚠️ Note and reality check about flowering: Plants are living organisms, so each specimen and its number of flower buds may vary upon receipt. It is important to know nature’s secrets: once Aeschynanthus has formed flower buds, it is strictly recommended not to move it or rotate the pot towards the light! It is very sensitive to changes in conditions at the start of flowering and stress can cause it to quickly drop all buds. After the plant has finished flowering, in spring or summer, its long stems can be safely and strongly pruned – this will encourage bushier growth and even more abundant flowering next season. When repotting, it is strictly forbidden to use heavy and dense houseplant soil! Since this is naturally an epiphyte (grows on tree branches), be sure to use an extremely airy and loose aroid or orchid soil mix (generously mixed with bark and perlite) so its roots can breathe freely.
