Royal Exotic Adelonema (Adelonema crinipes)

Get ready to bring absolute botanical exoticism into your home or office, the essence of South American tropical rainforests and one of the rarest and most fascinating treasures in the world of houseplants – the stunning Adelonema (Adelonema crinipes, also often known by its former name Homalomena crinipes)! This masterpiece of nature is a true, exclusive find for rare plant collectors and lovers of refined tropical textures. The plant's greatest pride, its magnet and unmistakable calling card are its breathtaking foliage and botanical structure: the large, lush, heart- or arrow-shaped leaves stand out with their smooth, dark green surface and prominent, sunken veins, but the most unique aspect of this species (which is described in botany by the word crinipes) is its leaf stalks – they are often covered in fine, soft and exotic hairs! This delicate contrast between the smooth leaf and the "fuzzy" stalk makes it a true design gem. It is now a nicely grown, strong, distinctly dense and very bushy 30-35 cm tall plant in a generous 12 cm pot. It is the most prestigious, tasteful and exotic gift for nature aesthetes, "urban jungle" enthusiasts and anyone looking for a visually striking, unusual and incredibly modern natural wonder!

CARE INSTRUCTIONS:

  • ☀️ Light: Bright, but MUST be indirect (filtered) light or partial shade. Herein lies this plant's main secret: in nature, this Aglaonema grows on the lowest level of tropical forests, in the shade of large trees, so it absolutely cannot tolerate direct, scorching midday sun. In direct sun, its leaves will quickly fade, lose their deep green pigment, and suffer irreversible sunburn. An east- or north-facing windowsill (or a spot a little farther from a south-facing window) will be absolutely ideal.

  • 💧 Watering: Moderate, regular, and very careful! This tropical plant loves consistent moisture, but is extremely sensitive to overwatering. Water the plant generously, but ONLY when the top 3-5 centimeters of soil have completely dried out. It absolutely cannot tolerate its roots sitting in stagnant water in the saucer. However, if you let it dry out completely, its large leaves will quickly droop and become limp.

  • 🌡️ Temperature/Humidity: A lover of warmth and high humidity! It thrives in the warmth of a room (+18°C to +25°C). This tropical rarity absolutely hates hot, stale, dry air from heating radiators, as well as icy drafts. During the heating season, it will be extremely grateful for a regularly running humidifier or misting.

  • 🐾 Keep away from pets and children: Like all members of the arum family (Araceae), adelonema also contains calcium oxalate crystals in all its parts, which are highly toxic. Chewing or ingesting it causes a strong burning sensation in the mouth, swelling and digestive problems in dogs and cats.

🏠 BEST ROOM:

  • Bright bathrooms with a window, bedroom dressers, office desks in shadier spots and plant cabinets, where this tropical accent will get the humidity it needs and create a lush jungle atmosphere.

  • “Urban jungle,” modern, eclectic or boho-style interiors, where exotic natural forms and striking textures serve as a bold, spatial design element.

SPECIFICATIONS:

  • Height: 30-35 cm

  • Pot diameter: 12 cm

⚠️ A note and a dose of reality about adelonemas: Plants are living organisms, and, when growing this rare and exclusive species, you should know one botanical fact – as the plant slowly grows and produces new shoots, it is completely normal for the very bottom, oldest leaf to occasionally turn yellow and wither. This is not a warning sign, but a natural cycle of renewal (simply cut it off at the base). However, if the leaves start turning yellow en masse and become soft – you are overwatering the plant, and its roots are starting to rot! When you repot it in the future, BE SURE to use a very airy, coarse, exceptionally well-draining houseplant substrate (so-called aroid mix), generously mixed with perlite, pine bark pieces and coconut fiber, to ensure maximum airflow to the roots and prevent rot.

🌡️ COLD TIME! If the outside temperature is below +5°C, be sure to add a heat pack to the order so that plants and predatory mites do not freeze on the way.

❄️ In cold weather, we recommend choosing Smartpost parcel lockers, as they provide indoor delivery, reducing the impact of low temperatures on the shipment.

⚠️ Important about the heating element! ‼️ 1 heating element per 1 order – it is not necessary to put one for each plant. ‼️ Provides heat for up to 72 hours. Without a heating element – we do not take responsibility for frozen plants and predatory mites.

📦 Pick it up promptly! When the package has been delivered, collect it the same day. Do not leave the package in the parcel locker overnight! Cold and heat can damage the plants and predatory mites.
