CARE INSTRUCTIONS:

• ☀️ Light: Exceptionally generous, bright, and maximally sunny conditions! This is the main secret behind the plant’s thick trunk and magnificent flowers: Adenium is an absolute sun lover. For its trunk to grow thick and sturdy and for new flower buds to form, place it in the brightest spot in the room (it will love and needs direct sunlight). A south- or west-facing windowsill is the perfect choice!

• 💧 Watering: Moderate in summer, minimal in winter. Because the adenium’s thick trunk (caudex) stores considerable water reserves, it cannot tolerate living in constantly waterlogged conditions. Water the plant thoroughly, but only when the soil in the pot has completely, 100% dried out all the way to the bottom between waterings! Since the plant is in a 12 cm pot, it will retain moisture well, so it categorically cannot tolerate its roots or the base of its trunk soaking in standing water in the saucer, which can quickly cause rot. During the winter months (the plant’s dormant period), reduce watering almost completely (once a month or every six weeks will be more than sufficient).

• 🌡️ Temperature/Humidity: It feels excellent and comfortable in warm conditions (+20°C to +28°C). This succulent tolerates dry indoor air, the heat of the heating season, and requires no misting or additional humidity without any problems. Important rule: adenium is a pronounced warmth lover – protect it from temperatures below +12°C and icy winter drafts!

• 🐾 Keep away from pets: Like many desert plants (members of the dogbane family), adenium sap contains cardiac glycosides that are poisonous to cats and dogs if the leaves or trunk are chewed. Place this magnificent little baobab tree somewhere inaccessible to your four-legged friends.

⚠️ Note and a dose of reality about adeniums: Plants are living organisms, so every specimen and the exact thickness, curve, and branching of its trunk (caudex) are completely unique works of nature – no two adeniums in the world are identical. An important secret of nature: in autumn and winter, as daylight hours and temperatures decrease, adenium may naturally turn yellow and shed its leaves as it enters winter dormancy – do not panic! During this time, water it very infrequently, keep it warm, and in spring, as the sun returns, a new, lush, glossy canopy of leaves will rapidly emerge from the top of the trunk. Since this is already a nicely mature plant in a 12 cm pot, it will not require immediate repotting. When you repot it in the future, you MUST use a special mineral-based, sandy, and highly porous cactus/succulent soil mix (containing plenty of gravel, pumice, and perlite) to ensure that excess water drains through the pot immediately.
