CARE INSTRUCTIONS:

• ☀️ Light: Maximum bright light and direct sunlight! For the desert rose to bloom and develop its unique, strong, and thick trunk, it needs a large amount of sunlight. A south or southwest-facing windowsill is absolutely the only right choice. In a dark place, the plant will quickly become leggy and die.

• 💧 Watering: Rare and extremely careful. As a desert plant, it requires a "thoroughly water and then completely dry out" approach. During the active growing season (summer), allow the soil to almost completely dry out between watering. In winter (dormant period), watering should be reduced to an absolute minimum – water only when the thick trunk starts to feel slightly soft. It absolutely cannot tolerate root rot from standing water!

• 🌡️ Temperature/Humidity: Loves heat and literally adores normal, dry indoor air. This plant must never be misted! In summer, it can safely be taken outside to a very sunny terrace. In winter, protect it from cold (temperature must not drop below 12–15°C) and from open windows.

• 🐾 Pets: Not pet-friendly. The plant is very toxic to both pets and humans! Its sap (latex) contains poisonous substances that can cause severe heart rhythm disturbances and poisoning if chewed, and skin irritation upon contact. Keep it absolutely out of reach of pets and small children!

🏠 MOST SUITABLE LOCATION:

• The brightest and sunniest south-facing windowsill in the home (an absolute prerequisite for this plant’s survival and flowering).

• A bright and warm winter garden (where it can enjoy conditions close to those of the desert).

⚠️ Note: Plants are living organisms, so each specimen and the shape of its thickened trunk (caudex) is completely unique and will differ. It is important to know a natural secret: it is completely normal for the desert rose to drop some or even all of its leaves in autumn and winter during the dormant period! Do not be alarmed and do not start watering the plant more intensively (this will kill it). In spring, as the amount of light and warmth increases, it will regrow both leaves and flower buds. When repotting or pruning the plant, always wear gloves to prevent the toxic sap from contacting your skin!
