Maidenhair fern or Adiantum (Adiantum fragrans)

This extremely delicate and romantic Maidenhair fern, often known worldwide as "Maidenhair fern," is one of the most airy yet also most demanding ferns. It stands out with its tiny, light green leaflets that flutter like fine lace on thin, wire-like dark stems. Although it is exceptionally beautiful, it is quite a demanding and unforgiving houseplant that will not tolerate mistakes or neglect from its caretaker. It will add a gentle, magical, and lively forest breath to any interior. This is a refined and very beautiful gift for experienced plant lovers who are not afraid of a challenge and can provide the necessary tropical microclimate!

CARE INSTRUCTIONS:

• ☀️ Light: Bright, diffused light or partial shade. To maintain its beautiful and lush foliage, the plant needs light, but it must be strictly protected from direct sunlight, which will instantly dry out and burn its paper-thin leaflets.

• 💧 Watering: Regular and very, very careful! This is a matter of the plant’s survival – the soil must always be evenly moist (like a damp sponge), but not muddy or waterlogged. Important: if you let the soil dry out completely even once, the fern’s leaflets will literally curl up, brown, and wither within a few hours. It is best to water it from below (through the saucer) with soft, room-temperature, settled water.

• 🌡️ Temperature/Humidity: Loves warmth and requires extremely high air humidity. In dry indoor air (especially during the winter heating season), this fern can quickly perish. It vitally needs a humidifier, placement on a pebble tray with water, or living in a glass cabinet. Strictly protect it from cold drafts and direct heat from heaters!

• 🐾 Pets: Pet-friendly. This delicate forest fairy is non-toxic and completely safe to have around cats and dogs in your home.

🏠 MOST SUITABLE ROOM:

• Bathroom with a window (an absolutely ideal environment where the room has constant warmth and naturally high humidity from the shower).

• Plant cabinet or glass display case (a great place to provide this fragile beauty with stable and controlled humidity).

• Bright room with a powerful humidifier (best placed among a group of plants, protected from drafts and direct sunlight).

⚠️ Note: Plants are living organisms, so each specimen may differ slightly from the one shown in the picture. As with any demanding plant, after transport or a change of environment, some leaflets may wither. Please also keep in mind one golden rule: if the plant has dried out and the leaves have browned, they will not recover or turn green again. In that case, confidently cut off all the dried stems down to the soil, continue to keep the soil moist, and be patient – if the roots are alive, new small shoots will soon start to emerge from the soil!
