Eschynanthus 'Mona Lisa' or Lipstick Plant (Aeschynanthus 'Mona Lisa')

This extremely attractive and exotic Eschynanthus 'Mona Lisa', widely known worldwide as the "Lipstick Plant," is a true tropical gem for your home! It stands out with its long, trailing stems densely covered with shiny, fleshy, dark green leaves. But its true pride and "highlight" are the wonderful flowers – from dark red, tubular calyxes (which serve as a "frame") gradually emerge bright red petal crowns that visually really resemble lipstick squeezed out of a tube! It is an elegant, airy, and abundantly flowering houseplant that will add a romantic, dynamic, and lush jungle accent to any interior. It is an excellent and completely safe gift for any aesthete looking for a flowering and unusual plant for a hanging pot!

CARE INSTRUCTIONS:

• ☀️ Light: Bright but diffused light. For the plant to bloom beautifully and maintain fullness, it needs quite a lot of light. However, it must be strictly protected from direct, scorching midday sun rays, which can quickly burn and dry out its fleshy leaves. An east or west-facing windowsill is absolutely ideal.

• 💧 Watering: Moderate and thoughtful. Allow the top layer of soil (about 3-4 cm deep) to dry out between waterings. Since Eschynanthus is an epiphyte (naturally growing on tree branches), its roots need air – it absolutely cannot tolerate overwatering and sitting in standing water in a saucer, which quickly causes root rot and leaf drop. Reduce watering slightly in winter.

• 🌡️ Temperature/Humidity: Loves warmth and literally adores high air humidity! It will be very grateful if the indoor air is not too dry. You can regularly and gently mist it with soft, room-temperature water (aiming for the leaves, not the flowers) or place it near a humidifier. Strictly protect it from cold drafts!

• 🐾 Pets: Friendly. This flowering tropical liana is non-toxic and completely safe in your home with curious cats and dogs.

🏠 BEST LOCATION:

• Bright hanging pot or tall shelf (an absolutely ideal spot, allowing its long flower strings to hang freely and elegantly down in the air).

• Bright bathroom with a window (where there is naturally high humidity from the shower and plenty of indirect light).

• Bright living room or bedroom (placed away from hot radiators in winter).

⚠️ Note: Plants are living organisms, so each specimen may slightly differ from the description. Important to know: after flowering, it is recommended to prune the stems slightly (shorten by about one-third). This will stimulate the plant to branch out, form new, fuller foliage, and produce even more "lipstick" next season! When repotting Eschynanthus, be sure to choose very light, loose soil (for example, mixing houseplant soil with orchid bark and perlite) to ensure the epiphyte roots get the necessary air circulation.
