Royal Sculptural Agave 'Shaka Zulu' (Agave 'Shaka Zulu')

Get ready to bring complete geometric power, desert aristocracy, and the boldest architecture in the world of houseplants into your home, terrace, or designer space—the stunning Agave 'Shaka Zulu'! This exclusive hybrid variety, highly prized among succulent collectors and interior designers, is named after the legendary Zulu ruler and fully lives up to its royal image. The plant’s greatest pride, magnet, and unmistakable signature is its breathtaking, symmetrical leaf rosette: thick, rigid, sword-shaped leaves in smoky emerald and blue-green tones emerge from the base, framed by dramatically rich reddish-brown and burgundy leaf margins with sharp, sculptural spines. This contrasting dark-red edging and central light stripe on each leaf create stunning three-dimensional volume and unparalleled visual impact. Agave is legendary for its hardiness and ability to store water, making it an ideal choice for busy people. It is currently an impressively mature, strong, exceptionally dense, large, and stable 30–35 cm specimen in a generous, highly stable 17 cm pot. This is the most prestigious, tasteful, and guaranteed-to-be-exclusive gift for lovers of modern minimalism, succulent hunters, and anyone seeking untamed natural art in their home!

CARE INSTRUCTIONS:

  • ☀️ Light: Exceptionally generous, bright, and maximally sunny conditions! This is the main secret behind the plant’s reddish-brown margins and strong rosette: Agave 'Shaka Zulu' is an absolute child of the sun. To keep its rosette dense and compact and encourage the leaves to develop their famous, bold burgundy coloring, place it in the brightest spot in the room (it will love and needs direct sunlight). A south- or west-facing windowsill, or a sunny terrace in summer, will be the perfect choice!

  • 💧 Watering: Extremely infrequent, minimal, and very careful—this plant thrives best when you “forget” to water it. Since its thick leaves act as powerful water reservoirs, the plant cannot tolerate constant moisture. Water the plant only when the soil in the pot has dried out completely—100% dry all the way to the very bottom of the pot between waterings! Since the specimen is in a large-volume 17 cm pot, it retains dryness and moisture for a long time, so the plant categorically cannot tolerate its roots or the base of the rosette standing in water in the saucer, which will quickly cause rot. During the winter months, reduce watering almost completely (once every 1.5–2 months).

  • 🌡️ Temperature/Humidity: Feels excellent and comfortable in warm conditions and at room temperature (+18°C to +28°C). This succulent tolerates dry indoor air, the heat of the heating season, and requires no misting or additional humidity without any problems. Important rule: protect it from temperatures below +8°C and icy drafts in winter!

  • 🐾 Keep away from pets: Agave leaves are rigid and covered with sharp tip spines that can physically injure curious pets. Place this magnificent, sculptural designer plant in a safe location away from children and four-legged friends.

🏠 IDEAL LOCATION:

  • Sunny south- or west-facing windowsills, floor stands, and spots directly beside windows, as well as outdoors on a terrace or balcony during the warm season, where this masterpiece will receive the most energy.

  • Modern, loft, Scandinavian, or minimalist-style interiors, offices, and reception areas, where clean geometric lines and exotic natural architecture create an exceptional luxurious atmosphere.

SPECIFICATIONS:

  • Height: 30–35 cm (an impressively mature, strong, exceptionally robust, large, and already highly noticeable specimen)

  • Pot diameter: 17 cm (a large, generous, and highly stable volume that supports strong root-system development)

⚠️ Note and a dose of reality about agaves: Plants are living organisms, so every specimen and its precise leaf arrangement, spine shape, and intensity of reddish-brown coloring are completely unique works of nature—no two plants in the world are identical. Since this is already an exceptionally mature and strong specimen in a generous 17 cm pot, it is extremely stable and will not require repotting for a very long time (agaves prefer compact pots). When you eventually repot it, be sure to use a special mineral-rich, sandy, and highly porous cactus/succulent soil mix (containing plenty of grit, pumice, and perlite) to ensure that excess water drains through the pot immediately and the roots always remain dry and healthy.

📦 Pick it up promptly! When the package has been delivered, collect it the same day. Do not leave the package in the parcel locker overnight! Cold and heat can damage the plants and predatory mites.
