CARE INSTRUCTIONS:

• ☀️ Light: Maximum bright light and DIRECT sunlight! This is the main secret to the beauty of this plant: for Albuca leaves to form their characteristic "frizzles," it needs a huge amount of direct sunlight. In too dark a place (or during winter months without additional lighting), the leaves will straighten, become long, limp, and lose their spiral shape. A south-facing windowsill is absolutely the only right choice.

• 💧 Watering: Rare and very careful. Albuca stores water in its bulb and thick leaves. Allow the soil to dry out completely between watering! It absolutely cannot tolerate root rot caused by standing water in the saucer, which will literally cause bulb rot and plant death within a few days. When watering, be careful that water does not get into the leaf rosette or directly on the bulb.

• 🌡️ Temperature/Humidity: Thrives at standard room temperature and literally loves normal, very dry indoor air. This plant must never be misted! Since Albuca is a South African plant, it likes good air circulation and can safely be placed outside on a sunny balcony in summer.

• 🐾 Pets: Not pet-friendly. Like most bulb plants, Albuca (especially its bulb) is toxic to cats and dogs. Chewing it can cause serious digestive issues and vomiting. Keep it safely out of reach of pets!

🏠 MOST SUITABLE LOCATION:

• The sunniest and warmest windowsill (south-facing window) – this is an absolute prerequisite for the plant to maintain its spiral shape!

⚠️ Note and reality check about the dormancy period: Plants are living organisms, so the intensity of leaf frizzles may vary. It is important to know nature’s secrets: the tips of the leaves on this plant tend to naturally turn brown and dry out – this is usually a normal process (especially during flowering) or indicates excessive heat combined with dryness, so don’t be alarmed! The biggest natural quirk of Albuca is its winter dormancy: unlike many other plants, Albuca is a winter plant that grows in cool and moist months in nature but enters a strict dormancy period in summer. In summer (especially after flowering), it may shed all its leaves completely and leave only a bare bulb in the pot. The plant is not dead! During this time, stop watering completely and place it in a cooler spot until new green shoots appear again in autumn. When repotting, it is strictly forbidden to use dense houseplant soil! Always use an extremely airy cactus and succulent soil mix, richly combined with perlite, sand, and fine gravel. The bulb should always be partially above the soil!
