CARE INSTRUCTIONS:

• ☀️ Light: Bright but indirect light. For this plant's "Batik" leaf pattern to develop and contrast properly, it vitally needs plenty of light. However, strictly protect it from direct, scorching sunlight, which will quickly burn and bleach its pale, delicate leaf sections. An east- or west-facing windowsill is an absolutely excellent choice.

• 💧 Watering: Regular but extremely careful! Here lies the most important secret of caring for young plants: small plants are highly sensitive both to drying out and overwatering. Keep the soil consistently and lightly moist, but allow the very top layer to dry out slightly between waterings. It strictly cannot tolerate its roots soaking in standing water in the saucer, which will very quickly cause root rot.

• 🌡️ Temperature/Humidity: It loves warmth and literally adores very high humidity! Variegated-leaf alocasias are particularly susceptible to spider mites and browning leaf tips when the indoor air is too dry. A humidifier, plant cabinet, or placement on a tray of moist pebbles is almost essential for this plant's survival and beauty. Strictly protect it from cold drafts!

• 🐾 Pets: Absolutely not pet-friendly. Like all alocasias, this plant is toxic to cats and dogs. Its sap contains calcium oxalate crystals, which cause severe irritation of the mouth and throat, drooling, and digestive problems when chewed. Keep it completely out of your pets' reach!

It is perfectly normal for the lowest leaf to slowly turn yellow and wither as a new, stunning leaf emerges – simply and carefully cut it off at the base. When repotting this plant, be sure to use an extremely airy and loose aroid soil mix (generously blended with perlite, fine orchid bark, and sphagnum moss) so its roots can breathe freely and remain protected from the risk of rot!
