Alocasia 'Scalprum' (Alocasia scalprum)

This extremely rare, exclusive, and visually stunning Alocasia 'Scalprum' is truly a coveted find for any houseplant collector! It belongs to the "jewel alocasias" group and stands out with phenomenal leaf texture and shape. Its dark green, highly glossy, and leathery leaves are shaped like narrow, elongated spears or daggers, with a pronounced relief and luxurious venation on the surface, creating an almost artificial 3D material effect. CARE INSTRUCTIONS:

• ☀️ Light: Bright but diffused light. To maintain the beautiful leaf color and texture, it needs quite a lot of light. However, strictly protect it from direct, scorching sunlight, which will instantly burn its glossy leaves. An east or west-facing windowsill is an excellent choice.

• 💧 Watering: Moderate and very careful. Alocasias like evenly slightly moist soil but hate overwatering! Allow the top layer (about 3-5 cm deep) to dry out slightly between watering. Its thick roots (tubers) absolutely cannot tolerate sitting in standing water in the saucer, which will quickly cause root rot and plant death.

• 🌡️ Temperature/Humidity: Loves warmth and requires high air humidity. 'Scalprum', like other alocasias, will greatly appreciate the presence of a humidifier in the room. If the air is dry, its leaf tips may start to brown and dry out. Strictly protect it from cold drafts, air conditioners, and open windows in winter (temperature must not drop below 16°C).

• 🐾 Pets: Not pet-friendly. The plant is toxic to cats and dogs. It contains insoluble calcium oxalate crystals, which cause severe mouth irritation, drooling, swelling, and vomiting if chewed. Keep it out of reach of pets!

🏠 MOST SUITABLE LOCATION:

• Plant display case or glass cabinet (an absolutely ideal place to provide this exotic beauty with stable humidity and controlled warmth).

• Bright bathroom with a window (if it has naturally elevated humidity and is not cold).

• Bright shelf in the living room (as an exclusive accent, best placed near a humidifier).

⚠️ Note: Plants are living organisms, so each specimen may differ slightly from the description. Important to know: it is completely normal and natural for alocasias to "sacrifice" and drop the older lower leaf when producing a new one, transferring stored energy to it. Also, remember that alocasias may enter a dormant period in autumn and winter – if the plant drops some leaves and stops growing, don’t worry and don’t overwater it! Let the tuber rest in slightly drier soil until spring, when it will sprout new shoots again. Alocasias are also prone to spider mites, so regularly check the undersides of leaves and keep them clean by wiping with a damp cloth!
