Royal Sunlit Ruby Anacampseros 'Rubra' (Anacampseros telephiastrum 'Rubra')
Get ready to bring a fabulous interplay of color, velvety delicacy, and the most captivating miniature geometry in the world of houseplants into your home, office, or succulent collection—the stunning Ruby Anacampseros 'Rubra' (Anacampseros telephiastrum 'Rubra' / Anacampseros rufescens 'Rubra')! This exclusive South African natural gem, highly prized among succulent enthusiasts, is a true masterpiece of living nature. The plant’s greatest pride, magnet, and unique signature is its breathtaking foliage: from the base, thick, fleshy, lance-shaped leaves in rich emerald, burgundy, and purplish-red tones form a compact rosette, interwoven with delicate white aerial hairs (“cobwebs”). In sunlight, the leaves take on a dazzling ruby and coral glow. Once mature, the anacampseros delights with delicate, star-shaped flowers in vivid pink, which bloom on warm afternoons. It is currently a neatly grown, strong, exceptionally dense, and highly promising 10 cm young plant/offset in an ideally sized 8.5 cm pot. This is the most prestigious, tasteful, and unique gift for housewarmings, desks, rare-succulent enthusiasts, and anyone looking for the highest level of refined color accent in their home!
CARE INSTRUCTIONS:
-
☀️ Light: An exceptionally generous, bright, and sunny environment! This is the key secret behind the plant’s ruby-red color and dense rosette: Anacampseros 'Rubra' is an absolute child of the sun. To preserve its vivid burgundy-red coloration and prevent the rosette from stretching, place it in the brightest spot in the room (it will love and needs direct sunlight). In a location that is too dark, the colors will fade and become simply green. A south- or west-facing windowsill is the perfect choice!
-
💧 Watering: Extremely infrequent, minimal, and very cautious—this plant thrives best when you “forget” to water it. Since its thick, fleshy leaves act as powerful water reservoirs, the plant does not tolerate living in constantly damp soil. Water the plant only when the soil in the pot has dried out completely—100%—all the way to the very bottom between waterings! Since this young plant is in an 8.5 cm pot, it will dry out moderately quickly, but it absolutely cannot tolerate its roots or the base of its rosette sitting in stagnant water in the saucer, which can quickly cause rot. During the winter months, reduce watering almost completely (once every 3–4 weeks).
-
🌡️ Temperature/Humidity: It feels excellent and comfortable in warm conditions and at room temperature (+18°C to +26°C). This succulent tolerates dry indoor air completely without problems, including the heat of the heating season, and does not require misting or additional humidification (humidification can even be harmful!). During its winter dormancy, protect it from temperatures below +10°C and icy drafts.
-
🐾 Pets: Pet-friendly / Non-toxic. Anacampseros species are non-toxic and safe to keep in your home with curious cats and dogs.
🏠 BEST LOCATION:
-
Sunny south- or west-facing windowsills, desks, shelves, and places directly beside windows, where this ruby-red rosette silhouette will receive the most solar energy and stand out as the main design accent.
-
Modern, Scandinavian, or minimalist interiors, where vivid tones and delicate natural textures create the perfect visual balance.
SPECIFICATIONS:
-
Height: 10 cm (compact, strong, exceptionally sturdy young plant / offset)
-

⚠️ Note and a dose of reality about anacampseros: Plants are living organisms, so every specimen and the precise distribution of ruby, burgundy, and green tones on each leaf, as well as the density of the delicate white hairs, is a completely unique masterpiece of nature—no two plants in the world are identical. Since this is a strong young plant/offset in an ideal 8.5 cm pot, it is exceptionally hardy and will not require repotting for some time (succulents really like snug pots). When you eventually repot it into a slightly larger pot, you MUST use a special mineral-based, sandy, and highly porous cactus/succulent soil mix (generously containing gravel, pumice, and perlite) to ensure that excess water drains through the pot immediately.
