Spider Orchid or Brassia 'Summer Dream' (Brassia 'Summer Dream')

This extremely unusual, exotic, and visually stunning Brassia 'Summer Dream', rightly called the "Spider Orchid" worldwide (thanks to its long, slender petals that resemble spider legs), is truly a unique find for every plant lover! Its flowers usually display light yellow-green tones with striking dark spots, creating a fantastic tropical appearance. But the greatest and most admirable "highlight" of this orchid is its fragrance – when kept warm and exposed to sunlight, its flowers awaken and start to emit a wonderful, sweetly spicy scent! Since this is still a small seedling (baby) in a very small pot, you will have a great opportunity to watch it grow stronger, develop new shoots (pseudobulbs), and prepare for its fragrant bloom. It is an elegant and very original houseplant that will add a refined, mystical, and exotic natural accent to any interior. It is an ideal, completely safe, and joy-inspiring gift for both experienced orchid collectors and nature rarity enthusiasts!

CARE INSTRUCTIONS:

• ☀️ Light: Bright but diffused light. For Brassia to form flower spikes and bloom spectacularly, it requires a large amount of light (more than popular Phalaenopsis orchids). An east or west-facing windowsill is ideal. Protect it from very intense midday sun rays that can burn the leaves.

• 💧 Watering: Moderate and very careful. Remember that orchids are epiphytes (in nature, they grow on tree branches, not in soil), so their roots need to dry out slightly between watering. The best method is soaking (immersing the pot in room temperature water for 10-15 minutes and then allowing excess water to drain completely). It absolutely cannot tolerate root soaking in standing water in the saucer!

• 🌡️ Temperature/Humidity: Loves warmth and literally adores high air humidity! Golden rule for this plant: to enjoy its famous fragrance during blooming, the plant must be kept in a pleasant warmth (in a cool room, flowers may not smell). Strictly protect from cold drafts!

• 🐾 Pets: Friendly. This exotic and fragrant orchid is non-toxic and completely safe in your home with curious cats and dogs.

🏠 MOST SUITABLE ROOM:

• Bright and warm living room windowsill (where warm sunlight during blooming will help release the flower’s aroma).

• Bright bathroom with a window (an absolutely ideal place for any orchid, as they love the natural humidity there).

⚠️ Note: Plants are living organisms, so each specimen may vary slightly. Important to know nature’s secrets: this orchid grows by forming thickened parts called pseudobulbs, where it stores water and nutrients. If you notice these bulbs starting to wrinkle slightly, it is the first sign that the plant wants to drink! After Brassia has finished blooming, the flower spike can be cut off, as it will not bloom again (new flower spikes will always form only from completely new, newly grown pseudobulbs). When repotting, it is strictly forbidden to use regular houseplant soil! Always use only special, extremely airy orchid substrate (medium or fine pine bark fractions) so the roots can breathe freely.
