Caladium or Angel Wings (Caladium)
This extremely spectacular and exotic Caladium, often called "Angel Wings" by people, is a true color king of the houseplant world! It stands out with its large, paper-thin, arrow-shaped or heart-shaped leaves, adorned in incredibly bright shades and patterns – featuring saturated pink, bright red, creamy white, and green tones with striking, contrasting veins. It is a dynamic and visually breathtaking houseplant that will add a bold, joyful, and extremely tropical natural accent to any interior. It is an aesthetic, colorful, and joy-inspiring gift for experienced plant lovers and anyone who wants to bring a true jungle vibrancy into their home!
CARE INSTRUCTIONS:
-
☀️ Light: Bright but diffused light. For the caladium to maintain its fantastic leaf colors and patterns, it needs a large amount of light. However, strictly protect it from direct, scorching sunlight, which will quickly burn its very thin and fragile leaves. An east or north-facing windowsill is an excellent choice.
-
💧 Watering: Regular and generous (during active growth). In spring and summer, caladium prefers evenly moist soil – it cannot tolerate complete drying out, as its thin leaves will quickly wilt. But be careful – it also does not tolerate root soaking in standing water in the saucer, which will quickly cause tuber rot!
-
🌡️ Temperature/Humidity: Loves warmth and literally adores very high air humidity! Since the leaves are as thin as paper, they quickly turn brown and crispy in dry air. A humidifier nearby will be the plant’s best friend. Strictly protect it from cold drafts, air conditioners, and sudden temperature changes.
-
🐾 Pets: Not pet-friendly. The plant is toxic to cats and dogs. It contains calcium oxalate crystals, which can cause severe irritation of the mouth and throat, drooling, vomiting, and digestive issues if chewed. Keep it safely out of reach of your pets!
🏠 MOST SUITABLE ROOM:
-
Bright bathroom with a window (an absolutely ideal spot, as the plant will love the natural humidity there).
-
Bright place near a humidifier or in a plant terrarium (to protect the leaves from drying out).

⚠️ Note: Plants are living organisms, so each specimen and its unique leaf pattern and color may vary. The most important natural secret to know about caladiums: they are tuberous plants with a distinct winter dormancy period! In autumn (as daylight decreases), the plant’s leaves will naturally start to yellow, droop, and completely fall off – don’t be alarmed, the plant is not dead! This is a natural process when the plant goes into winter sleep and stores energy in the tuber. During this time, watering must be completely stopped. In winter, store the pot with the tuber (or the tuber dug out of the soil) in a dry, cooler, dark place (around 15°C). In spring, bring it out, resume watering, and place it in warmth and light to awaken new and vibrant leaves!
