CARE INSTRUCTIONS:

• ☀️ Light: Bright but diffused light. To maintain its expressive leaf pattern, the calathea needs a large amount of light. However, strictly protect it from direct, scorching sunlight, which will quickly burn, curl, and dull its thin leaves. An east or north-facing windowsill is an excellent choice.

• 💧 Watering: Regular and very attentive. The calathea likes evenly slightly moist soil – it absolutely cannot tolerate complete drying out, as its leaves will irreversibly curl and the tips will become crispy. The most important rule: this plant is extremely sensitive to chlorine, fluoride, and hard tap water! Use ONLY soft, settled, filtered, or (best) rainwater at room temperature for watering.

• 🌡️ Temperature/Humidity: Thrives at standard room temperature, but the biggest secret to this plant’s survival and flawless appearance is very high air humidity! In dry indoor air, its leaf tips and edges will quickly turn brown and dry. A humidifier nearby is almost mandatory. Strictly protect it from cold drafts, sudden temperature changes, and dry radiator air!

• 🐾 Pets: Friendly. This colorful, moving plant is non-toxic and completely safe in your home with curious cats and dogs.

🏠 BEST ROOM:

• Bright bathroom with a window (an absolutely ideal place, as the plant will literally adore the natural humidity there).

• Bright spot near a humidifier in the living room or bedroom (where in the evenings you can watch its magical leaf folding in "prayer").

⚠️ Note: Plants are living organisms, so each specimen and its leaf pattern may vary slightly. It is important to know nature’s secrets: even the most experienced growers sometimes see the tips of calathea leaves dry out – this is normal and most often indicates insufficient humidity or use of tap water! You can carefully trim the brown tips with scissors, following the natural shape of the leaf to restore its aesthetic appearance, but do not cut into living tissue. Also, don’t be alarmed if the plant raises its leaves upright in the evening – this is not a sign of thirst but a natural movement. When repotting, be sure to use airy, humus-rich, and moisture-retentive houseplant soil (peat base generously mixed with perlite) and don’t forget excellent drainage at the bottom of the pot.
