Royal Sunny Meyer Lemon (Citrus × meyeri)

Get ready to bring a true Mediterranean sun, intoxicating citrus aroma, and the most delicious exotic houseplant in the world into your home, veranda, or sunny windowsill – the stunning Meyer lemon tree (Citrus × meyeri)! This legendary and highly prized natural treasure among lemon lovers is a natural hybrid of lemon and mandarin, boasting a special charm. The plant’s greatest pride and unique hallmark is its breathtaking versatility: from the strong trunk rise robust shoots with thick, shiny, waxy leaves in a rich emerald tone, which, alternating with waves of flowering, generously produce snow-white flowers with a divine, intoxicatingly sweet aroma. After flowering, the tree sets round, smooth lemons that ripen to a sunny yellow to soft orange tone. Meyer lemons are world-famous for their taste – they are significantly juicier, sweeter, and milder in acidity than regular store-bought lemons. It is now beautifully matured, strong, distinctly dense, and stable 25 cm tall in a generously sized 12 cm pot. It is the most prestigious, tasteful, and guaranteed most fragrant gift for home blessings, gourmets, and anyone seeking the highest level of tropical coziness in their home!

CARE INSTRUCTIONS:

  • ☀️ Light: Exceptionally generous, bright, and maximally sunny environment! This is the main secret to this plant’s flowering and juicy fruit: Citrus Meyeri is an absolute child of the sun. To maintain strong foliage, produce fragrant flowers, and ripen sunny fruits, place it in the brightest spot indoors (it really loves and needs direct sunlight). A south- or west-facing windowsill or a sunny terrace during summer months is the perfect choice!

  • 💧 Watering: Regular, moderate, and very thoughtful. Citrus trees like consistent moisture but do not tolerate "drowning" or standing water around the roots. Water generously, but only when the top layer of soil (top 2 cm of the pot) has dried out between waterings. The soil in the pot should feel pleasantly moist like a wrung-out sponge. Since the plant is in a stable 12 cm pot, it will retain moisture well, but the plant absolutely cannot tolerate root soaking in standing water in the saucer, which can quickly cause leaf drop and root rot. Water only with lukewarm, soft, or filtered water.

  • 🌡️ Temperature/Humidity: A warmth-loving tropical resident in spring and summer (+20°C to +26°C), which greatly appreciates air humidification and leaf misting. Important citrus tree secret: in winter months (dormant period), the lemon tree prefers a bright but cooler room (+10°C to +15°C) and moderate watering. In winter, strictly protect it from dry hot air from radiators and icy drafts!

  • 🐾 Pets: Keep away from pets. Citrus leaves and peel contain essential oils and psoralens that can cause digestive irritation in cats and dogs if chewed. Place this beautiful little tree out of reach of your four-legged friends.

🏠 BEST LOCATION:

  • Sunny south- or west-facing windowsills, sunny verandas, and conservatories, as well as outdoors on balconies or terraces during the warm season, where it will receive maximum natural light.

  • Bright living rooms and dining rooms, where this sunny, fragrant little tree will bring a warm Mediterranean atmosphere and serve as a main design accent.

SPECIFICATIONS:

  • Height: 25 cm (beautifully matured, strong, distinctly dense, lush, and visually well-formed specimen)

  • Pot diameter: 12 cm (stable and generous volume, ensuring strong and healthy root system development)

⚠️ Note and reality check about citrus trees: Plants are living organisms, so each specimen’s exact branching, leaf density, or the number of flower buds/fruits at any given time may vary slightly, creating a unique natural form. Important advice: citrus trees are sensitive to sudden environmental changes – when moving the plant to a new location, it may temporarily stop growing or drop some leaves while adjusting to the new microclimate. Don’t panic; provide sunlight and moderate moisture, and the tree will quickly regain strength! Since this is already a nicely mature plant in a 12 cm pot, it does not require immediate repotting. When you do repot in the future, be sure to use a special acidic and well-draining citrus soil mix with perlite and sand added.
