Royal Decorative Miniature Orange Tree or Calamondin (Citrus microcarpa / Citrus mitis)
Prepare to bring true Mediterranean sunshine, endless joy of life, and the most aromatic luxury of the indoor plant world into your home, balcony, or terrace – the stunning Calamondin! This exotic citrus tree, highly valued among interior designers, is a true masterpiece of nature and belongs to the absolute elite of houseplants. It will completely captivate you with its flawless, dense, and vibrant silhouette: its strong, twiggy branches are densely covered with distinctly glossy, firm, and richly dark green leaves with a pleasant waxy coating. But the real magic of nature and the plant’s greatest hallmark is its continuous and generous life cycle. Very soon, the tree will be adorned with delicate, snow-white star-shaped flowers that emit an incredibly sweet, fresh, and intoxicatingly romantic citrus aroma, instantly filling the entire room. When the flowers mature, the tree boldly sets and forms numerous shiny mini oranges (calamondin fruits), which gradually change color from lime green to bright fiery orange, creating a stunning visual contrast against the dark foliage. This plant is also an excellent air-purifying and microclimate-refreshing indoor/outdoor plant (during summer months), adding an elite-class, modern, and exotic natural design accent to any interior. It is currently a beautifully matured, strong, lush, and distinctly stable 30 cm tree in a generous, large 14 cm pot. It is the most prestigious, sunniest, and guaranteed unforgettable gift for home blessings, passionate aesthetes, and anyone who wants to feel the warm breath of southern nature in their home!
CARE INSTRUCTIONS:
-
☀️ Light: Maximum bright, generous, and sunny location! Here lies the main secret to this plant’s flowering and fruit production: as a true Mediterranean resident, the citrus tree vitally needs a huge amount of light. Place it on the brightest windowsill (south, west, or east side) right next to the window. It loves and tolerates direct sunlight perfectly, which helps the plant thrive boldly, ripen mini oranges, and maintain a dense crown.
-
💧 Watering: Regular, moderate, and very careful. Citrus trees do not tolerate either complete root drying or living in a swamp. Water the plant generously, but only when the topsoil and middle layer (upper third to half of the pot) between watering sessions are completely dry! Since the tree is in a large 14 cm pot, it retains moisture longer, so the plant absolutely cannot tolerate root soaking in standing water in the saucer, which quickly causes sensitive root rot and leaf drop. Water with soft, lukewarm water.
-
🌡️ Temperature/Humidity: A warmth-loving friend in spring and summer (+20°C to +28°C), who will greatly appreciate regular misting of leaves with soft water or a spot near a humidifier (this helps keep leaves glossy and protects against pests). In winter months, it will enjoy a cooler resting period (ideally +12°C to +15°C) and moderate watering – this stimulates abundant new flower bud formation in spring. Protect from dry radiator air and cold drafts!
-
🐾 Pets: Keep away from pets. Citrus leaves and bark contain essential oils and substances that can cause digestive tract irritation in cats and dogs if chewed. Place this beautiful tree out of reach of your four-legged friends.
🏠 MOST SUITABLE LOCATION:
-
The brightest, sunniest living room windowsills, kitchen tables, or home offices near direct windows, where this refined silhouette and vivid fruit interplay will be the center of attention.
-
Sunny, sheltered garden terraces, balconies, or loggias during the summer season (from late May to September), where the tree can enjoy fresh air and sunshine, turning the home surroundings into a true mini resort.

⚠️ Note and reality check about citrus trees: Plants are living organisms, so each specimen and its exact branch arrangement or number of flowers/fruits at any given moment may vary slightly (the tree develops naturally – at one time it may bloom more actively, at another – ripen green or already orange mini oranges, and this cyclical variability is extremely fascinating). Since this is already a neatly matured and strong tree in a generous 14 cm pot, it is very stable and does not require immediate repotting. Important nature secret: to maintain the tree’s perfectly round, dense crown shape, its shoot tips can be safely trimmed and shaped slightly in spring. When you repot it in the future, ALWAYS use a special, fertile, mildly acidic, and very airy citrus soil mix (generously supplemented with perlite and a bit of sand) to ensure perfect water drainage and allow roots to breathe freely.
