The Royal Prehistoric Sago Palm or Revolutions Cycad (Cycas revoluta)
Get ready to bring true living natural history, millennia of wisdom, and the most prestigious architecture of the indoor plant world into your home or office – the stunning Revolutions Cycad! This legendary and highly valued treasure of the southern islands of Japan among interior designers is not an ordinary palm. Cycads are among the oldest plants in the world (living fossils), having thrived on Earth since the dinosaur era over 200 million years ago. The plant’s greatest pride, magnet, and unique calling card is its breathtaking, symmetrical silhouette: from a massive, cone-like base, a royal crown spreads rigid, feather-like leaves with dark green, glossy, and distinctly waxy leaflets that look as if cut from a gemstone. This strict, sculptural foliage gives the plant a flawless blend of natural aristocracy and modern minimalism. The cycad is famously known for its slow, unhurried growth, making each leaf a symbol of patience and endurance. It is now beautifully matured, strong, distinctly firm, and stable 20-25 cm tall in a perfectly sized 12 cm pot. It is the most prestigious, tasteful, and guaranteed unforgettable gift for home blessings, elite interiors, and anyone seeking grand natural art with minimal care!
CARE INSTRUCTIONS:
-
☀️ Light: Generous, bright, and well-lit environment. Here lies the main secret to the firmness and splendor of this plant’s leaves: the cycad loves light. To maintain its symmetrical shape, saturated jade tone, and to have enough energy to produce a new leaf crown once a year, place it in the brightest possible spot. It also tolerates gentle, direct morning or late evening sun very well. However, protect it from the harshest midday sun in summer if the plant has not been gradually acclimated. It will thrive best on an east or west windowsill or near a south-facing window.
-
💧 Watering: Extremely moderate, infrequent, and very thoughtful. Since the cycad’s massive base stores large moisture reserves, the plant cannot tolerate living in a constant swamp. Water the plant generously, but only when the soil in the pot is completely, 100% dry down to the bottom between waterings! As the plant is in a stable 12 cm pot, it will retain moisture a bit longer, so the plant absolutely cannot tolerate root rot caused by standing water in the saucer, which can quickly cause root and base decay. Reduce watering to an absolute minimum in winter months (once a month is sufficient). If in doubt – never water!
-
🌡️ Temperature/Humidity: Feels great and comfortable in warmth and mild heat (+18°C to +25°C). This plant tolerates dry indoor air without any problems, heating season heat, and does not require mandatory misting or additional humidification, making it an exceptionally easy-care plant. The only rule: protect it from temperatures dropping below +10°C and icy drafts in winter (when airing windows). Leaves can be occasionally wiped with a damp cloth to remove dust.
-
🐾 Keep away from pets: All parts of the cycad (especially seeds, if produced) contain cycasin, which is highly toxic to cats, dogs, and other pets if chewed or ingested. Place this magnificent, sculptural design plant out of reach of your four-legged friends.
🏠 MOST SUITABLE ROOM:
-
Bright living rooms, bedrooms, or home offices where this strict, prehistoric silhouette can sit on a coffee table, shelf, or desk, attracting everyone’s gaze and serving as the main interior accent.
-
Modern, bright interiors with minimalist or tropical design where clean lines, natural materials, and elite-class exoticism create an excellent visual balance and a luxurious atmosphere.
SPECIFICATIONS:
-
Height: 20-25 cm (beautifully matured, strong, distinctly firm, and visually perfectly shaped specimen with excellent, sharp leaf forms)
-
Pot diameter: 12 cm (stable and excellent volume that ensures strong and healthy root system development)
⚠️ Note and reality check about cycads: Plants are living organisms, so each specimen and its exact leaf spread, length, or number of leaflets may vary slightly, creating a unique natural form (there are no two identical cycads in the world). An important nature secret: the cycad grows extremely slowly, and a new leaf "wave" usually appears only once a year (in spring or summer), when several soft, light green leaves simultaneously shoot out from the center of the base, expanding and hardening over a few weeks. During this period, the plant must not be moved to prevent new leaves from growing crooked. Since this is already a nicely mature specimen in a stable 12 cm pot, it will not require repotting for a very long time (cycads prefer narrow pots). When you repot it in the distant future, ALWAYS use an extremely light, permeable, and porous palm or cactus soil mix generously mixed with perlite and sand so that excess water drains instantly through the pot.
