Spiral Cactus or Unicorn Cactus (Eulychnia castanea f. spiralis)

CARE INSTRUCTIONS:

• ☀️ Light: Maximum bright light and direct sunlight. To maintain its dense, spiral form and prevent stretching, it needs a lot of sun. A south or southwest-facing windowsill is an absolutely ideal choice.

• 💧 Watering: Very rare and cautious. Like other desert cacti, allow the soil to dry out completely (down to the bottom of the pot) between waterings. Overwatering and standing water are this plant’s biggest enemies and will quickly cause rot. During the winter dormancy period (from November to March), watering should be almost completely stopped.

• 🌡️ Temperature/Humidity: Loves heat and dry air during the active growing season. Thrives at standard room temperature but will be delighted to rest outdoors in the sun during summer (on a terrace or in a garden). It must not be misted! In winter, it is best placed in a dry and cooler (but very bright) room (around 10–15°C) to rest.

• 🐾 Pets: Friendly but sharp! The plant itself is not toxic, but it has spines that can injure curious cats and dogs (and its spiral shape might look like a tempting toy), so it is advisable to place it in a safe spot.

🏠 BEST LOCATION:

• Sunny living room (on a windowsill or a well-lit shelf as a distinctly modern and sculptural design element).

• Bright office (requires very minimal attention but attracts all eyes).

• South-facing bedroom (where the cactus can enjoy maximum sunlight).
