Royal double amaryllis (hippeastrum) 'Striped Amadeus' (Hippeastrum 'Striped Amadeus')
Get ready to bring an absolute botanical spectacle into your home, the most luxurious winter and spring flowering show, and one of the most dramatic wonders in the world of houseplants - the stunning Hippeastrum 'Striped Amadeus' (often traditionally known as amaryllis)! This masterpiece of nature is a real find for fans of gigantic, regal flowers. The greatest pride, centerpiece and unmistakable hallmark of this particular, exclusive variety are its breathtaking flowers: huge, fleshy flower stems bear enormous, double (with multiple rows of petals) blooms, whose dazzling white base color is dramatically and artistically streaked with bright red stripes and veins. At the height of bloom, it looks like a luxurious work of art or a perfect three-dimensional cloud of flowers, whose red-and-white contrast instantly creates a festive atmosphere in the room! This is the most prestigious, elegant and interactive gift for gardening enthusiasts, romantics and anyone who wants to witness a magical process with their own eyes, as an impressive natural wonder literally grows from a bulb before their eyes!
CARE AND PLANTING INSTRUCTIONS:
-
☀️ Light: At first, you can keep a newly planted bulb in moderate light. However, as soon as the first green shoot (flower stem or leaf) appears, be SURE to move it to the brightest, sunniest windowsill (south-, east- or west-facing)! Plenty of light is critically important for the flower stem to grow straight and strong, rather than becoming long and spindly and unable to support the heavy double blooms.
-
💧 Watering: At first - almost none! Once you plant the bulb, water the soil just once and forget about watering until a clearly visible green shoot, about 5 cm long, appears! If you water the bulb before sprouting begins, it will simply rot. Once the plant is actively growing, water it regularly, keeping the soil slightly moist, but pour off any excess water from the saucer. Pour the water around the edge of the pot, making SURE to avoid pouring it directly onto the bulb!
-
🌡️ Temperature/Humidity: To wake the bulb and encourage sprouting, pleasant room warmth is needed (+21°C to +24°C). However, once the huge flowers open, you can extend their blooming period by placing the plant in a slightly cooler spot (+18°C). It absolutely does not require any misting.
-
🐾 Keep away from pets and children: Hippeastrum bulbs, leaves, and flowers are highly toxic. They contain lycorine and other alkaloids, which, if chewed, cause severe vomiting, tremors, and serious digestive upset in dogs and cats.
🏠 BEST ROOM:
-
Bright living room windowsills, dining table centerpieces (while blooming), and bright kitchen windows, where this huge red-and-white flower will serve as an absolute focal point and create a "wow" effect.
-
Classic, festive, modern, or "cottagecore"-style interiors, where bold floral contrasts will bring an exceptionally powerful, dramatic energy.
SPECIFICATION:
-
Height: expected flower stalk height during blooming: 40–50 cm.
-
Condition: Flower bulb (supplied ready for planting and growing).
⚠️ A note and a reality check about hippeastrums: Plants are living organisms, and, when growing this bulbous plant, you must strictly follow the golden planting rule: the bulb MUST NOT be buried completely in the soil! After planting, about 1/3 (up to half) of the top of the bulb MUST be left above soil level. Choose a pot that is only 3-5 cm wider than the bulb itself, because hippeastrums like to grow in "tight quarters". One more important fact: don't throw the bulb away after the spectacular flowering show is over! Cut off the spent flower stalk, but continue watering generously throughout spring and summer, fertilizing, and growing the plant's green leaves. The bulb will build up its strength through the leaves and enter dormancy in autumn (the leaves will wither), so it can bloom again next season!
🌡️ COLD TIME! If the outside temperature is below +5°C, be sure to add a heat pack to the order so that plants and predatory mites do not freeze on the way.
❄️ In cold weather, we recommend choosing Smartpost parcel lockers, as they provide indoor delivery, reducing the impact of low temperatures on the shipment.
⚠️ Important about the heating element! ‼️ 1 heating element per 1 order – it is not necessary to put one for each plant. ‼️ Provides heat for up to 72 hours. Without a heating element – we do not take responsibility for frozen plants and predatory mites.
📦 Pick it up promptly! When the package has been delivered, collect it the same day. Do not leave the package in the parcel locker overnight! Cold and heat can damage the plants and predatory mites.
