Royal Romantic Hippeastrum 'Sweet Star' (Hippeastrum 'Sweet Star')
Get ready to bring absolute botanical romance, airy springtime charm, and the most elegant flowering show in the world of houseplants into your home – the stunning Hippeastrum 'Sweet Star'! This exclusive masterpiece of nature is a true find for lovers of delicate pastel shades and classic elegance. The plant's greatest pride, magnet, and unique signature are its breathtaking flowers: on a strong, upright flower stalk, large, perfectly symmetrical, star-shaped flowers bloom in soft pink and salmon-pink shades, with a radiant white star and very delicate, expressive veining adorning their centers. This fragile yet powerful floral architecture literally illuminates the room and creates an incredibly cozy, festive atmosphere. The plant is currently available as a strong, large, and fully prepared bulb for forcing (without a pot or soil). It is the most prestigious, tasteful, and interactive gift for blessing a home, romantics, and anyone who wants to experience this captivating magic of nature with their own eyes – from planting a "bare" bulb to a grand flowering triumph!
CARE AND PLANTING INSTRUCTIONS:
-
☀️ Light: While the bulb is being planted and has not yet produced a sprout, the amount of light is not very important. However, as soon as the flower stalk appears and begins rapidly stretching upward, place it in the brightest spot possible (in bright, indirect light). If there is not enough light, the flower stalk will become elongated and fragile and may break under the weight of the large flowers.
-
💧 Watering: The golden rule of planting and watering! Plant the bulb so that at least 1/3 (or even half) of the bulb itself remains above the soil surface. At first, while the bulb has not yet developed roots and a green sprout, hardly water it at all or keep the soil only minimally moist. As soon as the flower stalk has grown (about 5-10 cm), start watering regularly, but never allow the bulb to stand in stagnant water!
-
🌡️ Temperature/Humidity: To awaken the bulb and encourage its growth, it initially needs room temperature warmth (+20°C to +24°C). However, when the delicate, soft pink flowers have fully bloomed, move the plant to a slightly cooler spot – in cooler conditions, the flowers will stay fresh and delight you for considerably longer! Additional air humidification is not necessary.
-
🐾 Keep away from pets and children: Hippeastrum bulbs, as well as their leaves and flowers, are highly toxic (they contain lycorine and other alkaloids). Ingestion causes severe vomiting and digestive tract problems in dogs and cats. Keep the bulb, and later the flowering plant, out of their reach!

⚠️ Note and a dose of reality about hippeastrums: Bulbs are living energy reserves! An important dose of reality: from planting the bulb until the first flowers open, it usually takes approximately 6 to 8 weeks. Be patient! The biggest mistake people make is overwatering the "bare" bulb immediately after planting, which causes it to rot before it has had time to awaken. For planting, you MUST use a light, very well-draining houseplant substrate and a pot with drainage holes in the bottom. Once flowering is over, do not cut off the long, green leaves – they will continue to nourish the bulb so it can build up strength and bloom again next year!
