Wax Flower or Hoya 'Gracilis' (Hoya gracilis / Hoya memoria)

This extremely elegant, delicate, and highly popular among collectors Wax Flower 'Gracilis' (often also known as Hoya memoria) is a true gem for every houseplant lover! It stands out with its slender, elongated leaves, richly decorated with silvery spots and dots (called splashes in English). In bright light, its new leaves and silvery spots often take on a wonderful, soft pink or bronze hue. But its true pride lies in its flowers – under the right conditions, this hoya produces stunning clusters of pinkish-red flowers with yellowish centers that emit a fantastic and very enticing sweet caramel fragrance in the evenings! It is a dynamic, patient, and trailing or climbing houseplant that will add a cozy, romantic, and exotic natural accent to any interior. It is an ideal, completely safe, and very valuable gift for both experienced plant lovers and fans of flowering vines!

CARE INSTRUCTIONS:

• ☀️ Light: Bright but diffused light. For the hoya to bloom abundantly and maintain its beautiful silvery spotted pattern on the leaves, it needs a large amount of indirect light. It will survive in partial shade, but growth will slow down and the plant will not flower. Protect it from very harsh midday sun rays, which can burn the leaves and turn them yellow.

• 💧 Watering: Rare and very careful. Hoya leaves are thick (they store water like succulents), so they tolerate drying out much better than overwatering! Allow the soil to almost completely dry out between watering. It absolutely cannot tolerate root soaking in standing water in the saucer, which will quickly cause root rot and plant death.

• 🌡️ Temperature/Humidity: Thrives well at standard room temperature and adapts quite well to normal indoor light. This tropical plant will not complain about slightly increased humidity but should not be excessively misted. Strictly protect from cold drafts and sudden temperature changes!

• 🐾 Pets: Friendly. This beautiful and fragrant vine is non-toxic and completely safe in your home with curious cats and dogs.

🏠 BEST ROOM:

• Bright hanging pot or tall shelf (allowing its delicate, spotted tendrils to elegantly and freely hang down).

• Bright living room windowsill (where you can enjoy its wonderful, sweet aroma during flowering).

• Bedroom (as a safe and aesthetically gentle interior addition that also purifies the air well).

⚠️ Note: Plants are living organisms, so each specimen and the amount of silvery spots on the leaves may vary. Please note: the first image shows an example of this variety’s flower to give you an idea of its stunning flowering potential and splendor! Important to know about hoyas: they characteristically suddenly produce long, "bare" tendrils without leaves. Do not cut these under any circumstances! Over time, new leaves will grow on these tendrils, and flower clusters may form. Also remember – when the hoya has finished flowering, do not cut the old flower stalk, because next year’s new flowers will form from the same stalk! When repotting, be sure to use very light and loose soil (houseplant soil mixed generously with orchid bark and perlite works great) so the epiphytic roots can breathe freely.
