Royal Lacunosa Hoya 'Asami' or Wax Flower (Hoya lacunosa 'Asami')

Get ready to bring true miniature botanical luxury, elegance, and an unforgettable fragrance into your home – Hoya 'Lacunosa Asami'! This exclusive, passionately sought-after, and extremely rare wax flower belongs to the absolute elite of the Hoya world. The 'Asami' variety completely enchants with its refined color palette and texture – its small, diamond to elongated leaves boast a distinctly firm structure and a pleasant base tone, almost entirely covered by a flawless dense, shiny, and sparkling silver splash coating. But the greatest fame of this Hoya lies in its legendary blooming: lacunosa Hoyas are world-famous for their soft, perfectly round, and fluffy flower clusters that emit a stunning, intense, and sweet aroma reminiscent of expensive French perfumes, honey, or exotic night jasmine. Currently, it is a very small, compact, and exceptionally valuable 10 cm young plant in a mini 6 cm pot. It is an air-purifying and very long-lasting vine / trailing plant that will add a minimalist, modern, and very tasteful design accent to any interior. It is the most prestigious and coveted gift for passionate rarity hunters and those who want to bring the most royal scent of nature into their home!

CARE INSTRUCTIONS:

  • ☀️ Light: Bright but MANDATORILY diffused light. Here lies the main secret of this plant’s silvery splendor: to maintain such an intense, pure silver splash coating and bloom abundantly in the future, it needs a large amount of light (it will especially enjoy gentle morning or late evening sun rays). However, strictly protect it from direct, scorching midday sun rays that will instantly and irreversibly burn its delicate leaves. An east or west-facing windowsill is a perfect choice.

  • 💧 Watering: Rare, moderate, and very careful! As a typical tropical epiphyte with thick, juicy leaves, this plant perfectly stores water reserves in them. Water only when the soil in the pot has completely dried out to the bottom! Since the small young plant is in a small 6 cm mini pot, it will dry out relatively quickly, but the plant absolutely cannot tolerate root soaking in standing water in the saucer, which will quickly cause sensitive root rot. If in doubt – feel free to wait a few more days.

  • 🌡️ Temperature/Humidity: A warmth-loving tropical resident (ideally +18°C to +25°C), which, thanks to its thick leaves, adapts relatively well and patiently to normal, dry indoor air. Of course, it will appreciate moderate to increased humidity (above 50%), which helps the little silver leaves grow even denser and the new shoots develop faster. In winter, strictly protect it from cold drafts!

  • 🐾 Pets: Friendly. This exclusive and splendid wax flower is completely non-toxic and absolutely safe in your home with curious cats and dogs.

🏠 BEST LOCATION:

  • Bright and warm windowsills, shelves, or a spot in a plant cabinet with morning/evening sun (ideal environment for maintaining the flawless silver pattern and convenient placement due to its compact young plant size).

  • Modern living rooms, home offices, or kitchens, where this plant’s delicate, shimmering vines will serve as a refined design element, and during blooming – as a natural and royal home fragrance.

SPECIFICATIONS:

  • Height: 10 cm (compact baby seedling / exceptionally valuable and rare young plant)

  • Pot diameter: 6 cm (mini pot) or 7 cm for the D7 variant

⚠️ Note and reality check about wax flowers: Plants are living organisms, so each specimen and the exact density of its silver splash on the leaves may vary slightly (some leaves may bloom more silvery, others greener, and this is a natural and fascinating characteristic of variegated plants). It is critically important to keep in mind that you are receiving a young plant (in a 6 cm pot)! Such small, exclusive seedlings require much gentler, more careful, and patient handling than mature plants – the 'Asami' young plant likes stability, so initially provide it with consistent conditions. An important nature secret: Hoyas naturally grow as vines and sometimes produce long, bare shoots (vines) without leaves at first. Never cut these off! This is a completely normal natural process – when the long vine finds support or enough light, new, splendid leaves and later fragrant flowers will gradually grow on it. When repotting this plant in the future, ALWAYS use an extremely airy, porous, and loose epiphyte soil mix (generously mixed with perlite and fine orchid bark) so the roots receive maximum oxygen and excess water drains instantly through the pot.
