Wax Flower or Linear Hoya (Hoya linearis)

CARE INSTRUCTIONS:

• ☀️ Light: Bright but diffused light. To keep the plant lush, grow rapidly, and bloom, it needs plenty of light, but strictly protect it from direct, scorching midday sun rays, which can instantly burn and dry out its delicate, fuzzy leaves.

• 💧 Watering: Moderate and very attentive. Since Hoya linearis leaves are much finer and thinner than other wax flowers, they cannot store large water reserves. Allow the top layer of soil to dry out between waterings, but do not let the entire pot dry out to dust. Important: it does not tolerate sitting in standing water in a saucer, which quickly causes root rot!

• 🌡️ Temperature/Humidity: Thrives at standard room temperature and, unlike many hoyas, tolerates slightly cooler conditions at night. However, it will greatly appreciate increased air humidity. If the indoor air is very dry (especially during the heating season), it should be regularly and gently misted. Keep away from hot radiators!

• 🐾 Pets: Friendly. This elegant and fragrant tropical vine is non-toxic and completely safe in your home with curious cats and dogs.

🏠 BEST LOCATION:

• Bright hanging pot or tall shelf (the absolutely ideal and only correct place, allowing its long, fuzzy vines to hang freely and naturally downward).

• Bright bathroom with a window (if it has naturally elevated humidity and plenty of indirect daylight).

• Bright and calm bedroom (where its soft, green "curtain" will create a relaxing and cozy atmosphere).

⚠️ Note: Plants are living organisms, so each specimen may differ slightly from the description. It is important to know the golden rule of wax flowers: never, under any circumstances, cut off spent flower stalks (the small "stems" that held the flowers)! Hoyas bloom again and again from the same small stem, so cutting it off means flowers will never appear there again. Remember, this plant grows best in a very loose, airy substrate (for example, with orchid bark and perlite mix) so that the delicate epiphytic roots can breathe freely.
