Hoya or Wax Flower 'Paziae' (Hoya paziae)

Unlike many other large-leaved Hoyas, this species (originating from the exotic Philippine islands) stands out with its unusually delicate and compact appearance. Its leaves are thin, smooth, firm, and elegantly lance-shaped (pointed), growing on airy and twining stems. However, this plant has gained its greatest fame because of its flowers – properly cared for, it will reward you in the future with stunning, snow-white star-shaped flower clusters, whose centers are adorned with a bright purple-red "crown" and which emit a pleasant, sweet fragrance in the evenings. Like other wax flowers, it is a patient, air-purifying, and long-lasting vine that will add a light, romantic, and very refined natural accent to any interior. CARE INSTRUCTIONS:

• ☀️ Light: Bright but diffused light. For this Hoya to maintain its compact, lush form and bloom abundantly in the future, it needs a large amount of light (it will especially enjoy morning or late evening sun rays). However, strictly protect it from direct, scorching midday sun rays, which will instantly burn its delicate leaves. An east or west-facing windowsill is an excellent choice.

• 💧 Watering: Rare and very careful! Since its leaves are a bit thinner than those of thick-leaved Hoyas, do not let them dry out completely "to the bone," but allow the top and middle layers of the soil to dry out thoroughly before each watering. The plant absolutely cannot tolerate root soaking in standing water in the saucer, which will quickly cause root rot and leaf drop.

• 🌡️ Temperature/Humidity: Thrives well at standard room temperature and, thanks to its hardy nature, adapts relatively well to normal indoor light. However, as a tropical native, it will appreciate increased humidity, which promotes much faster and denser new shoot growth. In winter, strictly protect it from cold drafts!

• 🐾 Pets: Friendly. This gorgeous and delicate wax flower is completely non-toxic and absolutely safe in your home with curious cats and dogs.

🏠 MOST SUITABLE LOCATION:

• A bright and warm windowsill with morning or evening sun (ideal environment and convenient placement due to its compact size).

• A high shelf or hanging pot, allowing the airy shoots to elegantly hang down and form a green cascade.

⚠️ Note and reality check about wax flowers: Plants are living organisms, so each specimen and its shoot length may vary slightly. It is extremely important to keep in mind that you are receiving a young plant! Small seedlings must be handled more gently and patiently than mature plants. It is important to know nature’s secrets: Hoyas naturally grow as vines and regularly produce long, "bare" shoots (strings) that initially have no leaves. Never cut these off! This is a completely normal natural process – when the long string finds support or senses enough light, new pointed leaves will gradually start to form on it. If the plant blooms in the future, after flowering never cut off old flower stalks, because the Hoya will bloom next season from those same stems! When repotting this plant, ALWAYS use a very airy aroid or epiphyte soil mix (generously mixed with orchid bark, coconut chips, and perlite) so its roots can breathe freely.
