Hoya or Wax Flower 'Wibergiae' (Hoya wibergiae)
This extremely elegant, rare, and visually stunning Hoya or Wax Flower 'Wibergiae' is a true tropical gem, originating from the deep forests of the Philippine islands! It is one of the most beautiful and desirable "splash" type Hoyas in the world. Its leaves are firm, smooth, and elegantly elongated with distinctly pointed tips. However, the greatest pride of this species is the leaf coloration – their lush green surface is generously and densely covered with silvery white spots and clouds. The most magical and exciting moment: when receiving excellent and strong light, these silver drops and the base of the new leaves undergo a fantastic transformation, turning soft pink and violet pastel tones (sun-stress effect). Like all Hoyas, it is an exceptionally patient, air-purifying, and long-living vine. Currently, it is a small young plant, but it is a sophisticated houseplant that will add an airy, shimmering, and very modern design accent to any interior. It is an exclusive and completely safe gift for rarity hunters and anyone who loves silvery shimmer and sometimes forgets to water their plants regularly!
CARE INSTRUCTIONS:
-
☀️ Light: Bright but diffused light. Here lies the main secret of this plant's "pink cosmos": for the Hoya to maintain the expressive density of the silver spots and to achieve the charming pink glow, it needs a large amount of light (it will especially enjoy morning or late evening sun). However, strictly protect it from direct, scorching midday sun rays, which will instantly burn its beautiful leaves. An east or west-facing windowsill is an excellent choice.
-
💧 Watering: Rare and very careful! As an epiphyte, its firm and thick leaves work perfectly as water reservoirs. Allow the top layer and the middle layer of the soil to dry out thoroughly between waterings! It absolutely cannot tolerate root soaking in standing water in the saucer, which will quickly cause sensitive root rot. The best indicator: if the leaves are very hard and firm, the plant does not need watering; if they become slightly more flexible – it’s time to drink.
-
🌡️ Temperature/Humidity: Thrives well at standard room temperature and, thanks to its thick leaves, adapts relatively well to normal indoor light. However, being a tropical native, it will appreciate increased humidity, which promotes much faster and healthier new leaf development and will also encourage the formation of soft, pastel-toned flower clusters in the future. In winter, strictly protect it from cold drafts!
-
🐾 Pets: Friendly. This gorgeous, silvery-pink Hoya is completely non-toxic and absolutely safe in your home with curious cats and dogs.
🏠 MOST SUITABLE LOCATION:
-
A bright and warm windowsill with morning or evening sun (ideal environment and prerequisite for maintaining the beautiful pink glow).
-
A high shelf, hanging pot, or a place with a small support (arch/ladder), allowing the vine to airily twine its silvery strings and create an elegant interior accent.
SPECIFICATIONS:
-
Height: 10-15 cm (young plant / string length at the time of receipt)
-
Pot diameter: 10.5 cm
⚠️ Note and reality check about Hoyas: Plants are living organisms, so each specimen and the distribution of its silvery spots or amount of pink pigment at the time of receipt may vary slightly (leaves turn pink only under good lighting; new leaves may initially be greenish). It is extremely important to remember that you are receiving a young plant! Small plants must be handled more gently and patiently than mature ones. It is important to know nature’s secrets: Hoyas naturally grow as vines and regularly produce long, "bare" shoots (strings) that initially have no leaves. Never cut these off! This is a completely normal natural process – when the long string finds support or senses enough light, new, beautiful leaves will gradually start to form on it. If the plant blooms in the future, after flowering never cut off old flower stalks, because the Hoya will bloom next season from those same stems! When repotting this plant, ALWAYS use a very airy aroid or epiphyte soil mix (generously mixed with orchid bark, coconut chips, and perlite) so the roots can breathe freely.
