Golden Ivy or Common Ivy 'Goldchild' (Hedera helix 'Goldchild')

This extremely stunning and classic Common Ivy 'Goldchild' is a wonderful combination of a traditional houseplant and bright colors. It stands out with its striking star-shaped leaves, whose dark green and grayish centers are richly bordered by a bright, golden yellow edge. CARE INSTRUCTIONS:

• ☀️ Light: Bright, diffused light. To maintain the bright, golden leaf edges, the plant needs plenty of light. It will survive without problems in a darker spot, but the leaves will lose their golden shine and become uniformly green. Protect from direct, scorching midday sun!

• 💧 Watering: Moderate. Keep the soil lightly moist, allowing the top layer (about 2-3 cm) to dry slightly between waterings. Ivies dislike prolonged dryness but must not sit in standing water (this quickly causes root rot and leaf drop).

• 🌡️ Temperature/Humidity: Unlike tropical plants, ivies prefer cooler rooms. They do well at standard room temperature but must be strictly protected from dry, hot air near radiators or heaters – this is the quickest way to a spider mite infestation! The plant will appreciate regular misting and rinsing leaves with cool water in the shower.

• 🐾 Pets: Not pet-friendly. The plant is toxic to cats and dogs. Its leaves and stems contain saponins, which can cause excessive salivation, vomiting, and digestive upset if chewed.

🏠 BEST ROOM:

• A bright bookshelf or top of a cabinet (where its golden strands can elegantly and freely hang down).

• A cooler, bright bedroom (will bring a classic yet bright presence of nature into the room and help purify the air).

• A bright hallway or stairwell (if it has a window and the air is a bit cooler than the rest of the home).

⚠️ Note: Plants are living organisms, so each specimen may differ slightly from the picture. Ivies are extremely well-shaped plants! If you want it to grow upwards, provide a small trellis (grid) for support. If the shoots become too long or the plant seems sparse, don’t hesitate to prune it boldly in spring – this will encourage new shoots and make your ivy even bushier!
