Royal Variegated Ivy 'Mint Kolibri' (Hedera helix 'Mint Kolibri')
Get ready to bring absolute botanical elegance, classic English garden charm, and one of the best-known climbing plants in the houseplant world into your home or office, captivating with its coloring – the stunning Ivy 'Mint Kolibri'! This masterpiece of nature is a real find for lovers of delicate textures, trailing forms, and spring-like colors. The plant's greatest pride, its magnet and unique calling card, is its breathtaking foliage: its delicate, classically serrated (star-shaped) leaves boast an artistic play of colors, with the dark green background richly and irregularly covered in creamy white, silvery, and fresh mint-green variegation. This light "marble" pattern makes the plant look airy and brightens any room. It is currently a nicely grown, vigorously branched and bushy 45-50 cm long climbing plant (which can be grown either trailing or trained up a support) in a generous 14 cm pot. It is the most prestigious, tasteful, and romantic gift for a housewarming, for bookcase owners, and for anyone seeking a visually dynamic, three-dimensional natural wonder!
CARE INSTRUCTIONS:
-
☀️ Light: Bright, but DEFINITELY indirect light. This is the secret behind this plant's light-colored leaves: variegated ivies (unlike entirely green ones) need much more light to retain their white and mint variegation. In low light, the leaves will simply turn green, but in direct, scorching midday sun, they will quickly burn and turn brown. An east- or west-facing windowsill will be perfect.
-
💧 Watering: Moderate and regular! Ivies like consistent moisture. Water the plant when the top 2-3 centimeters of soil have dried out. It absolutely cannot tolerate its roots sitting in standing water in the saucer (the leaves will quickly turn black and fall off), but it must not be allowed to dry out "to dust" either (the leaves will shrivel and drop off).
-
🌡️ Temperature/Humidity: A lover of coolness and fresh air! This plant thrives in moderate room temperatures (+15°C to +22°C). It absolutely hates hot, stuffy air from dry heating radiators. In winter, it should be misted regularly or kept away from heat sources.
-
🐾 Keep away from pets and children: All parts of ivy (especially the leaves) contain saponins, which are toxic. Chewing or swallowing them causes excessive drooling, vomiting, abdominal pain and digestive tract problems in dogs and cats.
🏠 BEST ROOM:
-
Bright bookshelves, hanging pots (macramé), cooler bedrooms and bright bathrooms, where this climbing plant will gracefully trail over the edges of the pot and create a romantic atmosphere.
-
Classic, romantic, "cottagecore" or Scandinavian-style interiors, where lush, colorful, trailing foliage adds a cozy feel.
SPECIFICATIONS:

⚠️ A note and a dose of reality about ivy: Plants are living organisms, and when growing ivy indoors, you need to know its biggest and most treacherous secret – in the dry, hot air of the heating season, it is an absolute magnet for spider mites (microscopic pests that suck sap from leaves, leaving fine webs). Prevention is worth its weight in gold: take your ivy to the bathroom every couple of weeks and rinse all the foliage thoroughly with a cool shower! The second golden rule: ivy needs regular pruning (trimming). If the stems get too long, leggy and sparse – feel free to cut them back, and the plant will become dense and lush again. When you repot it in the future, BE SURE to use a high-quality, very well-draining houseplant potting mix generously mixed with perlite.
🌡️ COLD TIME! If the outside temperature is below +5°C, be sure to add a heat pack to the order so that plants and predatory mites do not freeze on the way.
❄️ In cold weather, we recommend choosing Smartpost parcel lockers, as they provide indoor delivery, reducing the impact of low temperatures on the shipment.
⚠️ Important about the heating element! ‼️ 1 heating element per 1 order – it is not necessary to put one for each plant. ‼️ Provides heat for up to 72 hours. Without a heating element – we do not take responsibility for frozen plants and predatory mites.
📦 Pick it up promptly! When the package has been delivered, collect it the same day. Do not leave the package in the parcel locker overnight! Cold and heat can damage the plants and predatory mites.
