Royal Gem Orchid (Anoectochilus chapaensis 'Jewel Orchid')
Get ready to welcome the most mystical, luxurious, and hypnotic houseplant wonder of the world into your collection – the gem orchid Anoectochilus chapaensis! While classic orchids are grown for their flowers, this exclusive species dwelling deep in rainforests belongs to the legendary "Jewel Orchids" elite, considered unsurpassed masterpieces of leaf design. Its greatest pride and hallmark is its completely surreal, mythical foliage: the small, boldly rounded leaves boast a distinctly saturated, dark velvet matte texture – ranging from deep black to royal purple and chocolate tones. But the true magic of nature reveals itself when a beam of light glides over the leaves – each leaf is adorned with an incredibly dense, shimmering network of veins in fiery red, gold, and bronze, literally glowing and shining in the dark, perfectly resembling gemstone facets or woven golden threads. This shimmering effect is a unique natural phenomenon that leaves no one indifferent. Currently, it is a small, compact, and top-collection-value 10-15 cm young plant in a mini 6 cm baby pot. It is the most prestigious, delicate, and breathtaking gift for passionate rarity hunters and those who want to bring the most mystical natural jewelry into their home!
CARE INSTRUCTIONS:
-
☀️ Light: Moderate to partial shade – MUST be diffused light. Here lies the main secret of this plant’s mysterious beauty: in the wild, this orchid grows on rainforest soil, in the shade of trees, so it absolutely cannot tolerate direct sun and overly bright light, which would instantly burn and fade its unique dark velvet leaves. It will thrive in moderate light, a spot deeper indoors, or on a north/east-facing windowsill. It is also excellently suited for growing under artificial light (LED terrariums).
-
💧 Watering: Regular, moderate, and very precise. Unlike classic orchids growing in coconut husks, this gem species likes constant, light, and even soil moisture – the soil should never dry out completely to dust! However, the plant absolutely cannot tolerate root soaking in standing water in the saucer, which would instantly cause delicate root rot. Water with soft, lukewarm water when the top layer of soil has just started to dry.
-
🌡️ Temperature/Humidity: A warmth-loving tropical resident (ideally +18°C to +24°C), which due to its delicate structure will be extremely grateful for increased air humidity (above 60-70%). Since the young plant is in a small 6 cm mini pot, it will feel best and happiest in closed containers, glass terrariums, vivariums, or plant cabinets where a stable microclimate prevails. Protect from dry heating air and cold drafts!
-
🐾 Pets: Friendly. This exclusive and magnificent gem orchid is completely non-toxic and absolutely safe in your home with four-legged friends.
🏠 MOST SUITABLE LOCATION:
-
Glass terrariums, vivariums, plant cabinets, or domes with increased humidity, where this mini gem can thrive in a flawless environment.
-
Moderately lit rooms, bedrooms, or desks in partial shade, where its electrically glowing golden veins can be noticed every time you turn on the light.
SPECIFICATIONS:
-
Height: 10-15 cm (compact baby seedling / exceptionally valuable and rare young plant)
-
Pot diameter: 6 cm (mini pot)
⚠️ Note and reality check about gem orchids: Plants are living organisms, so each specimen and the exact density of its electrically glowing veins on the velvet dark leaves may vary slightly. It is critically important to keep in mind that you are receiving a young plant (in a 6 cm mini pot)! Such delicate, small, and exclusive seedlings must be handled very gently at first, ensuring stable moisture and warmth – they do not grow quickly but gradually form a compact, creeping carpet. These orchids do not naturally grow in regular soil! If you repot in the future, ALWAYS use a special, loose, and moisture-retentive substrate made of live or dried sphagnum moss mixed with some fine orchid bark and perlite, so the roots always get oxygen but never dry out.
