Tirsifloras Kalanchoe or "Desert Cabbage" (Kalanchoe thyrsiflora)

This extremely unusual and attractive succulent, affectionately known as the "Desert Cabbage" or "Pancake Plant" due to its appearance, is a true lover of sun and dryness. It stands out with large, fleshy, and rounded leaves arranged in a dense, sculptural rosette. The plant reaches its fullest beauty in bright sunlight, when the edges of its leaves turn fiery red and burgundy shades. It is extremely hardy, easy to care for, and an architectural houseplant that will add a modern, exotic, and very eye-catching accent to any interior. CARE INSTRUCTIONS:

• ☀️ Light: Maximum bright light and direct sunlight. To maintain its dense shape and for the leaf edges to develop the famous bright red color, it needs a lot of sun. A south or southwest-facing windowsill is an absolutely ideal choice. In a darker spot, the leaves will turn completely green, and the plant will quickly become leggy.

• 💧 Watering: Very rare and cautious. Like other desert dwellers, allow the soil to dry out completely (down to the bottom of the pot) between waterings. Overwatering and standing water are this plant’s greatest enemies and will quickly cause root rot. During the winter dormancy period, watering should be reduced to a minimum.

• 🌡️ Temperature/Humidity: Thrives at standard room temperature and literally loves dry air. It must not be misted! In summer, it will be extremely happy if you take it outside into the sun on a terrace or balcony (in fresh air it will become even redder and denser).

• 🐾 Pets: Not pet-friendly. This succulent is toxic to cats and dogs. If leaves are eaten or chewed, it can cause digestive irritation and other issues, so keep it out of reach of your pets.

🏠 BEST LOCATION:

• Sunny south-facing windowsill in the living room (where the plant will get maximum sun for its red coloring).

• Bright and modern office (as a sculptural, minimalist design element requiring minimal attention).

• Sunny balcony or terrace in summer (it will thrive outdoors in warm months and recharge its energy).

Please do not try to wipe, wash, or polish off this layer! Also remember that the redness of the leaves depends directly on the amount of light received – during the dark winter months, it may naturally become a bit greener.
