SOWING AND GROWING INSTRUCTIONS:

• 🔨 Seed Preparation (Critically Important!): Lotus seeds have a rock-hard, waterproof protective coat. For the seed to absorb moisture and awaken, carefully scarify the coat at the rounded, blunt end (where a small indentation is visible) with a file or sandpaper until a lighter inner layer appears. Handle carefully to avoid damaging the seed embryo!

• 💧 Germination: Place the prepared seeds in a transparent container (glass or jar) with clean, lukewarm water (ideally +20°C to +28°C) and put it in a very bright, warm spot. Change the water daily! Within a few days, the seed will swell boldly, and in about a week, the first green shoot will emerge.

• 🥥 Preparation with Coconut Disk: When the lotus shoot has grown several centimeters long and begins to form its first roots, it’s time to use the included pressed coconut disk. Place the disk in a separate container and pour warm water over it – it will swell boldly within minutes, transforming into an exceptionally airy, clean, and natural coconut fiber soil. This substrate is ideal for lotus because it does not become muddy and contains no harmful bacteria.

• 🏺 Transferring to Water Environment: Fill the swollen coconut substrate into a decorative, waterproof container, bowl, mini pond, or aquarium. Carefully plant the lotus seed with the new shoot facing upward into the coconut fiber. To prevent the substrate from floating in the water, it is recommended to secure the top layer with clean sand or pebbles, then gently pour water so that the lotus’s new leaves can float on the water surface.
