Mandevilla or Dipladenia 'Opale Citrine' (Mandevilla / Dipladenia)

This extremely stunning and sunny Mandevilla (also widely known as Dipladenia around the world) is a true breath of summer and the Mediterranean region for your home! Unlike the commonly found red or pink varieties, the exotic 'Opale Citrine' stands out with its wonderful, bright yellow trumpet-shaped flowers and sunny center, which contrast beautifully with the dark green, glossy foliage. It is a dynamic, fast-growing vine and a very abundantly flowering houseplant (and simply indispensable as a terrace plant in summer), adding a bold, tropical, and very cheerful natural accent to any interior. It is a perfect and impressive gift for flowering plant lovers and anyone who adores exotic cascades of flowers!

CARE INSTRUCTIONS:

• ☀️ Light: Maximum bright light and direct sunlight. For the plant to continuously form new flower buds and produce its large flowers, it vitally needs sun! A south, southeast, or southwest windowsill will be the absolute best choice. In a dark place, it will produce only long vines without flowers.

• 💧 Watering: Abundant in summer, but very careful in winter. During the active flowering season, keep the soil lightly moist, allowing the top layer of soil (about 2-4 cm) to dry out between watering. It categorically does not tolerate root soaking in standing water! During the winter dormancy period, watering must be drastically reduced.

• 🌡️ Temperature/Humidity: Loves warmth and literally adores summer heat! In the warm summer months, it is highly recommended to take this tropical vine outside into fresh air on a sunny terrace, balcony, or yard. However, to allow the plant to gather strength, it must be provided with a bright but cool dormancy period in winter (ideally around 13–15°C). Protect from frost!

• 🐾 Pets: Not pet-friendly. Mandevilla stems and leaves contain a white, sticky sap (latex) that is toxic to cats and dogs. Chewing the plant can cause severe mouth mucous membrane irritation, drooling, and digestive disorders. Keep it out of reach of your pets!

🏠 MOST SUITABLE LOCATION:

• Sunny terrace, balcony, or garden in summer (where it can freely bloom and enjoy direct sun and fresh air).

• Sunny south-facing windowsill in the living room (an absolute prerequisite for flowering indoors).

• Cool but bright veranda or stairwell in winter (an ideal place for the vitally necessary dormancy period).

⚠️ Note: Plants are living organisms, so each specimen may slightly differ from the description. Important to know: mandevilla is a pronounced vine, so its long vines need support (a trellis, bamboo hoop, or moss pole) to climb on, or you can grow it in a hanging pot, allowing the branches to hang down. When cutting damaged leaves or trimming overly long branches, it is recommended to wear gloves so the sticky sap does not irritate the skin. Spent flowers will fall off by themselves, making room for new ones!
