Touch-sensitive Mimosa or Sensitive Mimosa (Mimosa pudica)
This is the most famous, magical, and interactive plant in the world – Touch-sensitive Mimosa! This tropical South American native is legendary thanks to its incredible and lightning-fast ability to literally "communicate" with its surroundings. Mimosa is a distinctly sensitive plant (responsive) – reacting to the slightest mechanical touch, temperature change, or gust of wind, its delicate, hairy leaves fold together synchronously in a fraction of a second, and the entire branch elegantly bends downward. The plant also strictly follows its natural daily rhythm, "going to sleep" every evening by gently closing its leaves, and in the morning, it spectacularly opens them toward the light. Visually, mimosa looks incredibly airy and graceful, resembling a delicate fern, and in summer it often enchants with charming, fluffy pink or violet flower balls. It is not only an air-purifying but also visually and educationally fascinating houseplant that will bring liveliness and special charm to any interior. It is the most unique and absolutely unforgettable gift for children, nature explorers, exotic lovers, and anyone who wants to see a true wonder of nature at home!
CARE INSTRUCTIONS:
-
☀️ Light: Bright but MANDATORILY diffused light. For mimosa to have enough energy for its magical movements and to bloom regularly, it needs a large amount of light (it will especially enjoy gentle morning or late evening sun rays). However, strictly protect it from direct, scorching midday sun rays that will instantly burn its delicate leaves. An east or west-facing windowsill is an excellent choice.
-
💧 Watering: Regular, steady, and balanced. Mimosa likes consistent and even moisture. The soil in the pot should be pleasantly spongy (like a squeezed sponge). Do not let the soil dry out completely, as even a short drought will cause leaf wilting and dropping. However, strictly avoid waterlogging the roots in standing water in the saucer, which will cause root rot.
-
🌡️ Temperature/Humidity: A warmth-loving tropical native (ideally +18°C to +25°C) that will be extremely happy with increased air humidity (above 50-60%). In dry indoor air caused by winter heating, its delicate leaves may start to yellow, so it will appreciate a spot near a humidifier or on a pebble tray with water. In winter, strictly protect it from cold drafts!
-
🐾 Pets: Keep away from pets. Mimosa contains mimosine – a substance that is not suitable for pets' stomachs if they decide to taste the plant. Also, excessive interest from cats or dogs (touching the leaves) will cause the plant to constantly fold its leaves, which consumes too much energy, so place it where pets cannot reach.
🏠 MOST SUITABLE ROOM:

-
Modern living rooms, children's rooms, or home offices where this miniature natural wonder will serve as a unique design, entertainment, and conversation piece.
SPECIFICATIONS:
-
Height: 15 cm (compact, charming, and well-formed plant with delicate foliage)
-
Pot diameter: 8 cm (small)
⚠️ Note and reality check: Plants are living organisms, so each specimen and its branch density may vary slightly. Please note that during transport (due to vibrations) or immediately after unpacking, the plant will have its leaves COMPLETELY closed upon receipt! This is a completely normal protective mechanism – place it in a warm, bright, and calm spot, and it will spectacularly reopen its airy foliage in less than half an hour. Do not try to deliberately touch or "annoy" the plant too often, as each leaf folding consumes a lot of the plant's internal energy. When repotting this plant in the future, use a light, airy mixture of peat and perlite soil, ensuring good water drainage at the bottom of the pot.
