Peppermint Monstera or 'Monstera Mint' (Monstera deliciosa 'Mint')
This extremely exclusive and globally coveted 'Monstera Mint' is undoubtedly a botanical gem and the ultimate goal for any plant collector. It stands out with a stunning, naturally occurring leaf mutation – its lush green, split leaves are adorned with a delicate, marbled pattern of peppermint green and silvery white tones. Since this chlorophyll deficiency in the leaves is unique, each new leaf is a completely unique work of natural art. It is a luxury-class, highly decorative, and somewhat demanding houseplant that will add a sophisticated and bold tropical touch to any interior. It is a phenomenal and truly unforgettable gift for experienced rarity hunters!
CARE INSTRUCTIONS:
-
☀️ Light: Bright, diffused light. This rarity vitally needs light to maintain its beautiful peppermint variegation and provide energy to the plant (since the light leaf areas lack chlorophyll). However, it must be strictly protected from direct, scorching sunlight, which will instantly burn the fragile, light leaf areas.
-
💧 Watering: Moderate and very careful. Allow the top layer of soil (at least 5 cm deep) to dry out completely between waterings. Monstera is an epiphyte and tolerates slight drying out much better than standing in wet soil. Overwatering will quickly cause root rot and brown spots on the light leaves.
-
🌡️ Temperature/Humidity: Loves warmth and requires high air humidity. Humidity is especially important for variegated monsteras because in dry indoor air (especially during heating season), the beautiful peppermint variegation and leaf edges can quickly turn brown and dry out. It will be extremely grateful for the presence of a humidifier. Protect from cold drafts!
-
🐾 Pets: Not pet-friendly. The plant is toxic to cats and dogs because it contains calcium oxalate crystals, which cause severe irritation of the mouth and digestive tract if chewed.
🏠 BEST ROOM:
-
Bright living room (as an absolute centerpiece, ideally placed near an east or west window).
-
Plant collector’s room (where microclimate can be controlled and high humidity maintained).
-
Bright, modern office (if the room has large windows with diffused light and the air conditioner does not blow directly on the plant).
SPECIFICATIONS:
-
Height: 50-60 cm
-
Pot diameter: 12 cm
⚠️ Note: Plants are living organisms, so each specimen may differ slightly from the one shown in the picture. It is important to remember that the intensity of the peppermint variegation on each leaf is a natural random occurrence! Since this is a vine and has already reached 50-60 cm in height, it will definitely need a stable support – a coconut fiber or moss pole to help it climb and eventually develop even more impressive, larger, and more distinctly split leaves.
