Oleander (Nerium oleander)

This majestic and elegantly flowering oleander is a true classic of the Mediterranean region, bringing a genuine southern resort atmosphere to your home, balcony, or terrace! It stands out with its evergreen, narrow leaves and its ability to bloom very abundantly. Its flowers can come in various shades – from creamy white and soft pink to bright red. Oleander is a very long-living, sun- and heat-loving houseplant and terrace plant that will add a romantic, classic, and very colorful natural accent to any environment. It is a great and aesthetic gift for experienced plant lovers and anyone who has a very sunny spot for growing the plant in summer and a cooler room for its winter rest!

CARE INSTRUCTIONS:

• ☀️ Light: Maximum bright light and direct sunlight! For oleander to bloom abundantly and continuously, it vitally needs a very large amount of sun. The brightest south-facing windowsill, a sunny winter garden, or staying outside in the sun will be absolutely ideal and almost the only right choice. In too dark a place, it will become leggy and won’t bloom.

• 💧 Watering: Very generous in summer, but moderate in winter. Unlike many other houseplants, oleander literally drinks water on hot summer days! In summer (especially if it is outside in the sun), water it abundantly, and on scorching days, you can even leave a little water in the tray. Do not let the soil dry out completely in summer! During the winter rest period, reduce watering significantly, allowing the top layer of soil to dry out.

• 🌡️ Temperature/Humidity: Loves heat! In the warm summer months, this plant should definitely be taken outside into fresh air on the sunniest terrace, balcony, or garden. However, in autumn, before the first frosts, it must be brought indoors. To rest and prepare flower buds for the next year, it needs a cool room in winter (ideally +5°C to +10°C) with good lighting.

• 🐾 Pets: Absolutely not pet-friendly – VERY TOXIC! This is one of the most dangerous house/terrace plants. All parts of the plant (leaves, flowers, sap, stem) contain cardiac glycosides and are extremely poisonous to both pets and humans. Ingestion can cause severe poisoning and heart problems. Keep it completely out of reach of children, cats, and dogs!

🏠 MOST SUITABLE LOCATION:

• Sunny terrace, balcony, or garden in summer (absolutely the best place for this plant during the active season).

• Cool and bright winter garden or glazed loggia (ideal place for safe and comfortable wintering of the plant).

⚠️ Note: Plants are living organisms, so each specimen, its crown fullness, and flower color may vary. Important safety rules: when pruning or repotting oleander, always wear protective gloves to prevent the toxic sap from getting on your skin or wounds, and wash your hands thoroughly after working! For young plants, you may prune branch tips in spring to encourage bushier growth, but keep in mind that flower buds form on last year’s shoots. Regularly fertilize the plant during the flowering period to provide the necessary energy!
