CARE INSTRUCTIONS:

• ☀️ Light: Bright but indirect light or partial shade. Since this orchid grows on the forest floor in nature, it needs less light than other orchids. Protect it absolutely from direct, scorching sunlight, which will quickly burn its leaves and turn them yellow. An east- or north-facing windowsill will be an excellent choice.

• 💧 Watering: Regular and very attentive. The most important rule: unlike other orchids, Paphiopedilums have no nutrient-storage organs (pseudobulbs), so their roots and soil must never be allowed to dry out completely! Keep the substrate evenly and lightly moist, but be careful—it also cannot tolerate its roots sitting in stagnant water in the tray. Use only soft, filtered, settled, or rainwater at room temperature for watering.

• 🌡️ Temperature/Humidity: It thrives at standard room temperature. This orchid literally adores high humidity, but never spray the leaves and do not allow water to enter the center of the leaf rosette, as this will quickly cause rot and kill the plant! A humidifier or placing it on a pebble-and-water tray will be the best solution.

• 🐾 Pets: Pet-friendly. This elegant orchid is completely non-toxic and absolutely safe to keep in your home with curious cats and dogs.

• A bright bathroom with a window (an absolutely ideal location because of the high humidity and filtered light).

• An east-facing windowsill in the bedroom or living room (where the plant receives gentle morning sunlight).

⚠️ Note and a dose of reality about flowering: Plants are living organisms, so each specimen, its leaf pattern, and its flower color may vary. It is important to know nature's secrets: each Paphiopedilum leaf rosette flowers only once in its lifetime! After flowering, the old flower stem should be cut off, and the old leaf rosette will slowly stop growing over several years and eventually die back. This is normal and no reason to panic! During this time, the plant will produce new offsets (new rosettes) from its base, which will delight you with flowers again in time. When repotting, it is strictly forbidden to use ordinary large-chunk orchid bark—since this is a ground-dwelling plant, you must use a finer-grade orchid soil mixed with perlite, sphagnum moss, and a little peat so that the substrate can retain consistent moisture.
