Triangle Oxalis (Oxalis triangularis)

This charming Triangle Oxalis, often called the lucky shamrock, enchants with its dark purple, butterfly-like leaves and delicate, pale pink flowers. It is an unusual and dynamic houseplant whose leaves respond to light – they close like butterfly wings as it gets dark, as if going to sleep, and open wide again in the morning sun. It is a very popular and symbolic gift that brings good luck, as well as a wonderful, contrasting accent for any interior, especially standing out against a light wall or a background of green plants.

CARE INSTRUCTIONS:

• ☀️ Light: Bright, diffused light. To maintain the saturated dark purple color of the leaves, the plant needs plenty of light (morning or evening sun is also appreciated), but it should be protected from the harsh midday heat.

• 💧 Watering: Moderate. Allow the top layer of soil to dry out between waterings. Overwatering can cause bulb rot. If the plant appears to wilt and drops leaves (often in winter), it is most likely entering a natural dormancy period – during this time, watering should be stopped and the bulbs allowed to rest in a cool place until new shoots appear.

• 🌡️ Temperature/Humidity: Thrives well in cooler or standard room temperatures (15–21°C). In heat, the leaves may lose their vibrancy. It tolerates dry air easily, so misting is not necessary.

• 🐾 Pets: Not pet-friendly. The plant contains oxalic acid, which is mildly toxic and irritating to cats and dogs if ingested.

🏠 BEST ROOM:

• Bright windowsill facing east or west (an ideal spot for the plant to receive gentle light and show its true beauty).

• Bedroom (wonderful to watch the plant "fall asleep" with you in the evening as it closes its leaves).

• Office or desk (a compact and visually calming accent that brings nature’s dynamics into everyday life).
