This extremely unusual and visually airy Curly Rhipsalis 'Amstel' completely breaks the classic idea of what a cactus should look like! Unlike the spiny desert dwellers, this one is an epiphyte (naturally growing on tree branches in tropical forests) and boasts flat, wide, and elegantly wavy or "curly" leaf segments that visually resemble green seaweed. As it grows, it starts to form a beautiful, hanging, and dense cascade. It is a very dynamic, distinctly structured, and easy-to-care-for houseplant that will add a soft, modern, and exotic natural accent to any interior. It makes a great, interesting, and completely safe gift for both experienced jungle creators and any design lover!

CARE INSTRUCTIONS:

• ☀️ Light: Bright but diffused light. To maintain the beautiful and wavy shape of the segments, it needs quite a lot of light. Morning or late afternoon sun will be appreciated, but strictly protect it from direct, scorching midday sun rays, which can make its leaves pale, yellowish, or cause reddish burns.

• 💧 Watering: Moderate. Since this is a jungle, not a desert cactus, it requires more moisture. Allow the top layer of soil (about 3-5 cm) to dry out between waterings, but do not let the entire pot dry out to dust. Important: it must never sit in standing water in a saucer, as epiphyte roots rot rapidly in stagnant moisture!

• 🌡️ Temperature/Humidity: Thrives at standard room temperature and tolerates normal indoor air well. However, coming from tropical forests, it will enjoy increased air humidity, especially during the winter heating season. If the air is very dry, the plant can be gently misted or placed near a humidifier.

• 🐾 Pets: Friendly. This strange and wavy jungle cactus is non-toxic and completely safe in your home with curious cats and dogs.

🏠 BEST LOCATION:

• Bright hanging pot or tall shelf (an absolutely ideal place where the plant’s curly branches can hang freely and elegantly downwards).

• Bright bathroom with a window (if it has naturally elevated humidity and enough diffused light).

• Cozy office (as a relaxing and visually calming green accent).

⚠️ Note: Plants are living organisms, so each specimen may slightly differ from the description. Important to know: under the right conditions, rhipsalis can bloom with very small, delicate (usually white or yellowish) flowers along the leaf edges, which sometimes develop into small decorative berries! When repotting this plant, be sure to use a very light and loose substrate (for example, cactus soil mixed with orchid bark and perlite) so its fine roots can breathe freely.
