Skadoksis or Blood Lily (Scadoxus)

CARE INSTRUCTIONS:

• ☀️ Light: Bright, diffused light. To keep the flower clusters vivid and the leaves healthy, the plant needs plenty of light, but be sure to protect it from direct, scorching southern sun rays, which can shorten the blooming period and burn the foliage.

• 💧 Watering: Moderate during the active growth and blooming period. Allow the top layer of soil to dry out slightly between waterings. Important: In autumn, when the plant begins preparing for its natural dormancy and the leaves start to yellow, gradually reduce watering to a minimum and let the bulb "rest" in near dryness until new shoots appear in spring.

• 🌡️ Temperature/Humidity: Thrives well at standard room temperature during growth and blooming phases, but during the winter dormancy period, it is best placed in a cooler room (10–15°C). It tolerates dry air easily, so misting is not necessary, and flowers should not be sprayed with water.

• 🐾 Pets: Not pet-friendly. The plant (especially its bulb) is highly toxic to cats and dogs, so be sure to place it out of reach of your pets.

• Bright living room (on a stable plant stand or table as a stunning central room accent during blooming).

• East or west-facing windowsill (provides the plant with optimal morning or afternoon sun without overheating).
