String of Pearls (Senecio rowleyanus or Curio rowleyanus)

This extremely popular and photogenic succulent, known worldwide as the "String of Pearls," is a true botanical wonder. Its unique, round leaves that resemble small green peas or pearls are natural water reservoirs, elegantly hanging down in strands. It is an exceptionally stylish, trailing houseplant that adds a modern, playful, and very eye-catching accent to any interior. It makes a desirable and very beautiful gift for both succulent lovers and design enthusiasts who appreciate plants with unusual shapes.

CARE INSTRUCTIONS:

• ☀️ Light: Bright, diffused light with a little direct sunlight (preferably morning or late afternoon sun). For the strands to grow dense and beautiful, the plant (especially the top of the pot) needs a lot of light. In too dark a place, the plant will stretch out and large empty gaps will form between the pearls.

• 💧 Watering: Infrequently and carefully! This is a succulent, so allow the soil to dry out completely between waterings. Overwatering and standing water are the plant’s biggest enemies and will cause the roots to rot within a few days. Important: the plant will tell you when it is really thirsty – the round pearls will become slightly soft, shriveled, and lose their firmness.

• 🌡️ Temperature/Humidity: Thrives at standard room temperature and prefers normal, dry indoor air. It must not be misted, as moisture between the pearls can quickly cause rot. In winter, it can be placed in a slightly cooler room to rest.

• 🐾 Pets: Not pet-friendly. The plant is toxic to cats and dogs if ingested, causing digestive irritation (its pearls may seem like tempting toys to pets, so hang it at a safe height).

🏠 BEST ROOM:

• Bright living room (hung from the ceiling in a macramé pot or placed on a high bookshelf where the strands can hang freely down).

• Bedroom by a sunny window (as a romantic and calming design element).

• Bright bathroom (only if it has a very large window and excellent air ventilation to prevent excess moisture buildup).
