Jasmine Nightshade 'White' (Solanum jasminoides)

This extremely fast-growing, energetic, and beautifully flowering Jasmine Nightshade 'White' is a charming climbing plant that will create a true southern atmosphere in your home or on your terrace with its abundant blooms! It features long, twining shoots and hundreds of small, snow-white star-shaped flowers with a striking yellow center, visually very similar to jasmines (from which the plant’s name is derived). It is a tireless bloomer and an excellent indoor and terrace plant that can be grown either as a hanging plant in pots or allowed to climb vertical supports. It will add an airy, romantic, and very summery natural accent to any environment. It makes a wonderful and bloom-enhancing gift for anyone with access to a sunny balcony, terrace, or very bright windowsill!

CARE INSTRUCTIONS:

• ☀️ Light: Maximum bright light and direct sunlight! For the nightshade to bloom continuously and abundantly, it vitally needs a large amount of sunlight. The brightest south or southwest-facing windowsill, or a sunny balcony, will be absolutely ideal. In too dark a place, it will become leggy and bloom very weakly or not at all.

• 💧 Watering: Regular and generous. During the active growth and flowering period (especially in summer if it is outdoors in the sun), the plant will need plenty of water. Keep the soil evenly lightly moist, but allow the surface layer to dry slightly between waterings. It absolutely cannot tolerate root rot from standing water in the saucer, but complete drying out must also be avoided, as it will quickly drop both flowers and buds!

• 🌡️ Temperature/Humidity: Loves warmth and thrives in summer heat. In the warm spring and summer months, it is definitely recommended to take this plant outside to fresh air on a sunny terrace or balcony. In winter (dormant period), it needs a cool (around 5–10°C), but bright room and significantly reduced watering, as it will not survive outdoor winters in our climate.

• 🐾 Pets: Absolutely not pet-friendly. Like many other nightshade family plants, it is toxic to cats and dogs. Ingestion can cause serious digestive issues, drooling, vomiting, and lethargy. Keep it completely out of reach of your pets!

🏠 BEST LOCATION:

• Sunny balcony, terrace, or garden in summer (the absolutely best place for this climber during the active season).

• Cool and bright winter garden or glazed loggia (ideal place for safe overwintering of the plant).

• Very sunny windowsill in the living room (if you grow it indoors).

⚠️ Note: Plants are living organisms, so each specimen, its shoot length, and flower quantity may vary depending on the season. It is important to know nature’s secrets: this is a liana-type climber, so it needs support (trellis, ladder, or hoops) to climb on, unless you want to grow it as a hanging plant from a high shelf. Nightshade responds extremely well to pruning – don’t hesitate to prune it boldly in spring or between flowering periods! This will stimulate bushier growth and promote even more abundant new flower bud formation. During the summer season, remember to regularly (once a week) fertilize it with fertilizer designed for flowering plants to maintain its energy!
