CARE INSTRUCTIONS:

• ☀️ Light: Maximum bright light and even direct sunlight! This is the main secret to this plant’s beauty: to maintain its rich purple color, tradescantia needs a large amount of light. If there is too little light, the leaves will become dull, greenish, and the plant will grow leggy and unattractive. A south, east, or west-facing windowsill is an absolutely ideal choice.

• 💧 Watering: Moderate and thoughtful. Tradescantia likes evenly slightly moist soil during active growth, but its fleshy stems allow it to tolerate short periods of drought very well. Let the top layer of soil dry out a bit between waterings. It absolutely cannot tolerate root rot caused by standing water in the saucer, which will quickly cause stem rot!

• 🌡️ Temperature/Humidity: Thrives at standard room temperature and adapts easily to normal, dry indoor air (no need for misting). In warm summer months, this plant can and should be taken outside to fresh air on a sunny terrace or balcony, where it will develop an even brighter and deeper color in the sun!

Pruning will stimulate the plant to bush out from the base, and you can simply stick the cut stems back into moist soil in the same pot or place them in a glass of water – they will root literally within a few days, allowing you to endlessly renew your plant. When repotting, use standard, airy houseplant soil with good drainage.
