Variegated Yucca (Yucca elephantipes 'Variegata')

This architectural and extremely resilient Variegated Yucca is a true breath of desert air for your home. Unlike the classic, fully green yucca, this special ('Variegata') variety stands out with stunning, stiff sword-shaped leaves edged with contrasting creamy white or yellowish borders. It forms a massive, woody trunk and will grow over time into a truly impressive, large indoor tree. It is a striking, masculine, and absolutely low-maintenance houseplant that will add a modern, geometric, and exotic accent to any interior. CARE INSTRUCTIONS:

• ☀️ Light: Maximum bright light and direct sunlight. To maintain the beautiful variegation of the leaves and develop a firm, healthy trunk, it needs plenty of sun. A south, southeast, or west-facing windowsill is absolutely ideal. In too dark a place, the leaves will become weak, elongated, droop, and lose their color contrast.

• 💧 Watering: Very rare and cautious. This is a desert plant that stores water reserves in its massive trunk. Allow the soil to dry out completely (down to the bottom of the pot) between waterings. Overwatering and standing water are the yucca’s only and greatest enemies, quickly rotting both roots and trunk! In winter months, reduce watering to an absolute minimum.

• 🌡️ Temperature/Humidity: Thrives at standard room temperature and prefers normal, dry indoor air. It does not need misting, as excess moisture between leaves can promote rot and fungal diseases. In summer, the plant will be extremely happy if you take it outside into the sun on a terrace or balcony. In winter, it prefers to rest in a slightly cooler room (around 15°C).

• 🐾 Pets: Not pet-friendly. Yucca is toxic to cats and dogs. It contains saponins that cause digestive irritation and vomiting if chewed. Additionally, its stiff leaf tips are quite sharp and can injure curious pets!

🏠 BEST LOCATION:

• Sunny living room (as a large, sculptural, and distinctly modern design element).

• Bright office (thanks to its durability, it is an ideal office plant that won’t mind if you forget to water it).

• Sunny balcony or terrace in summer (in warm months, outdoors in fresh air and sun, it will store energy for the whole year).

⚠️ Note: Plants are living organisms, so each specimen may slightly differ from the one shown in the picture. Important to know: As the yucca grows and stretches in height, its lower (older) leaves naturally yellow, dry out, and fall off – this is how the plant gradually forms and extends its woody trunk. This is a completely normal natural process and not a cause for concern! You can simply carefully remove or cut off the dried leaves.
