Augu augsne nav tikai "zeme": Kāpēc pareizais substrāts maina visu?

Watering soil is not just "dirt": Why the right substrate changes everything?

Most of our favorite houseplants do not grow in ordinary, dense "black soil" in nature. In tropical jungles, they grow on tree bark, rocky slopes, or very airy forest undergrowth. When we plant them in heavy, dense garden soil, we literally deprive the roots of oxygen.

Remember: Air is just as important to roots as water!

Why is the "Universal substrate" not always the best?

Cheap universal substrates sold in supermarkets often consist only of fine, unprocessed peat. At first, it looks good, but after a few waterings, it compacts like a sponge. The result? Water does not pass through, air does not reach the roots, and they start to rot. Your plant starts to yellow not because it lacks water, but because it is "drowning".

Professionals' choice: Soil that "breathes"

For your plants to truly thrive, it is important to use a base created with root health in mind. We have selected the best solutions from our range:

1. Growmix with perlite – The gold standard for houseplants

This is one of the most popular choices among houseplant lovers.

  • Strength: It already contains the perfect amount of perlite, which provides excellent drainage and oxygen access. The soil remains airy even after prolonged use. A great choice for everyday houseplants and balcony flower boxes.

2. Lightmix – Full control in your hands

If you like to control plant fertilization yourself, this is your choice.

  • Strength: Minimal fertilizer amount for the first weeks. This allows you to decide when and what additional elements to add without risking "burning" sensitive roots.

3. Royalmix – Premium comfort

This is the "all-inclusive" option for busy plant owners.

  • Strength: High-quality peat mixture that provides gradual nutrient release for up to 6 weeks. Plants feel like they are in a royal resort.

4. Batmix – Organic power for flowering

If you grow balcony flowers or plants that need a strong energy boost.

  • Strength: Contains bat guano, one of the most powerful natural fertilizers in the world. It promotes a strong root system and abundant flowering.

5. Seeding & Cutting – Gentleness for new life

Seeds and newly rooted cuttings require special care.

  • Strength: Very fine texture and low EC (salt) level. This ensures that new, fragile roots are not damaged and can develop quickly.

Ingredients that change everything

If you want to make your soil even more professional, pay attention to these components:

  • Perlite: These are the small, white "stones". They create air pockets and prevent the soil from "cementing".

  • Pine bark chips: Essential for Monsteras and other aroids. They mimic the natural environment where plants climb tree trunks.

  • Coconut fiber/chips: A great alternative that decomposes slowly and helps maintain soil structure for years.

Recipes for your plants:

  • For jungle plants (Monstera, Philodendron): 50% Growmix + 20% pine bark + 20% extra perlite + 10% coconut chips.

  • For balcony flowers and summer flowers: Use pure Batmix for maximum flowering.

  • For succulents: 40% Lightmix + 60% perlite or coarse sand.

Tip: By changing the soil, you give your plant new life. Choose a professional substrate – your plants will thank you with bright leaves and rapid growth!
